Un amore una prigione. Tragico.

Great supporting actors. Especially that handsome, rich, suave husband. I was attracted to him until he gives that creepy little speech in this scene about hate. I was born over a decade after this movie was made but I was totally blown away by this movie when I saw it at the age of 50.

I don't like my people to cheat.

This movie was the basis for the iconic scene in "The Shawshank Redemption," where Red Redding, played by Morgan Freeman, shushed Andy Dufresne at the iconic moment at 2:12 and said, "This is where she does that shit with her hair." In fact, that scene was what caused me to look up this movie Gilda and watch it myself.

Lol apparently the gay implications flew over everyone's head as they were making the movie. They were writing the plot as they were filming which is kind of insane if you think about it. It would explain why they never end up telling us why Gilda and Johnny broke up. They imply she hurt him somehow but she accuses him of abandoning him. So which is it? The writers forgot to tell us and instead drove head first into gaytown 🤣
