So this explains the scene with the red light district worker in the ending... they played a drawn backstory with lipbalm in the credits and I felt it was weird to give such contect to a character that barely appeared...so she was cut out...

映画では、リンさんちょい役になってて、リンさんの登場の意味が良く分からかったけど、カットされたのリンさん関連だったのか。本当は三角関係が存在してたんですね。これ、有るのと無いのとでは全体が随分違って来ますね。

@@crazylobster-minhaz I assume their comment is a reference to the manga. In the manga, Shusaku apparently has a relationship with Rin (and I did not read the manga so idk if the relationship is strictly physical or if it's physical and emotional). And when someone cheats, they can react in a multitude of ways, but the commenter is saying Shusaku is the type that "allows his wife to have a free pass with a guy that she possibly has feelings for" when he cheats so he feels less guilty.

作品後半で口紅が爆弾に吹っ飛ばされて粉々になるシーンがあるのですが、もうその一コマで全てを表していて、泣けて泣けて悔しくて苦しくてしようがなくなります。

行けましたか？復興を終えているので、面影は原爆ドーム周辺と呉港だけじゃないかな。このドームの周りに柵がある。この意味が分かると如何に罪深い兵器か知らされるよ。

This truly is one of the most beautiful films I’ve ever seen. I think, I did see this before watching Grave of the Fireflies, so I guess I’ve kind of got my emotions backwards in terms of my animation experience. But this is still a wonderfully healing, heartbreaking and uplifting movie about the struggle, determination and resilience and love against all the odds and the power of family. The animation style greatly adds to that at many times with its change of styles and how it so closely represents painting styles for every day and dramatic scenes. not to mention the soundtrack which you get a small piece of here which you will find running through your head, long long after the movie finishes. And as I say this now, years later (can’t believe how long it’s already been), I can safely say that it stays with you forever. But in this case it’s a good thing. If you are on the fence about watching this movie, I cannot recommend it enough.
