After a knife fight with a vc, who he killed, Msg. Benavidez held his intestines with one hand, while he used the other hand to drag his wounded friends to the chopper to be exfiltrated. And before the knife fight he was shot several times and took shrapnel, and got a broken jaw from being hit in the face with the butt of an enemy rifle.... A true American badass

One of the most incredible soldiers of any era. He was told he wouldnt walk again, trained himself to stand, while dealing with the most exruciating pain imaginable, and walked again, despite everything being against him. This is not to mention all of the other injuries he received. Brave, great leader, sadly gone to soon. He even made use of his starred career to ensure all veterans continued to provided disability benefits. Its so awesome to hear him speak live. Thank you for your service, a truly great American.

Patriotism is under attack currently, yet we draw our inspiration from people like this. America needs more Patriots AND NOT TO FIGHT IIN FOREIGN WARS!!!!!! This is BY NO MEANS a disrespect to any one who has been in a foreign campaign , more so to keep our American way of life. It has of course changed a bit however the essence is captured here. NEVER FORGET.

His story is one of the craziest yet most heroic war stories I have ever heard. this video should be played to any Leftard kneeling for the anthem or burning down cities because they were offended by what they perceive as racism. And while I would love to see a live action movie portraying what he did in Vietnam, I hope it’s not done by Hollywood. Because the way those morons are acting today, I’m afraid they would do nothing but bastardize his legacy.

That poem made me tear up, just looking around today. If you have the flag waving in your yard, on you car, or even tatted on you body. You're looked at like a villain. God bless you, Sergent Roy! Gracias por todo! May you be enjoying your time in paradise with our lord. God bless you all, God bless The United States of America

Soldiers do not start wars. Politicians start wars, and soldiers are the ones sent to die in their place. We can never express enough gratitude to men like MSGT Benavidez. The sacrifices of warriors like him humble us all.

Every morning in Camp McKaw they woud play this .... and all day "are you ready to quit yet?", You see, they were pushing us to the limits to see if we'd fold under pressure. It was the hardest training I had ever completed ..... so proud to wear my Green Beret. 10SFGA Medic on an ODA (A Team). It opened many doors for me. thank you for that opportunity to serve.

I was stationed at Ritchie my last nine months of active duty ending in June 1966. At the time, the post was mainly Signal Corp and provided the manpower for Site R. Strangely, I don't ever remember the mountain being referred to as Site R or Raven Rock; we just said we were going into the mountain. I was the only AI trained soldier on the post after my AI major was reassigned. He was replaced by the post MP commander who immediately informed me that I would be designing and giving command wide security orientations. Hundreds, maybe thousands of personnel came to those lectures. Because some personnel worked different shifts, I had to go into barracks and qualify some who were not able to attend in the auditorium. My job also included being a documents custodian. Back in those days, serious violation of the Military Code of Conduct would be an automatic loss of security clearance and possible discharge. The post also housed the archives for the Eisenhower Papers and I witnessed David and Mamie Eisenhower spending time there. Off duty was mainly spent in Waynesboro or Hagerstown, the latter being a college town with plenty of girls.
