I didn't read this until today!!! I've had it forever. I'm never really caught up on reading my comics/trade paperbacks/graphic novels/omnibuses. There's just so much I want to read and not enough time!! I wanted to say I really agree that keeping this book black and white would have served it's "feel" well. The art AND story here are fantastic. I love it when you really get that unnerving feeling about the Joker because he is so deranged and unpredictably unhinged!!! Great book and memorable art! Nice review! I recommend Batman and Joker: Deadly Duo. Cool story arc and the art by Marc Silvestri is on point.

I'm lucky that I was able to discover the film...and watch it...before the trailer! (And if that's possible...I'd be all for it! This is why I was glad that I didn't come across the trailer of 'Matrix: Resurrection' before getting a chance to watch it!) The trailer is just...cut in a way that it seems less like 'The Guilty' (The Protagonist is mostly confined to one location) and more like...'Mission: Impossible' and 'Fantastic Beasts' put in a blender. So...I was among the lucky ones that didn't get the reveal about the gremlins until they (was there more than one?) started showing up. As for the "pure popcorn entertainment' phrase in the trailer? I'm not sure how accurate that is. I mean...you can watch the film with popcorn (which makes me want to microwave a bag of popcorn now...) but...for me? I really enjoyed the part where Maude was in the cabin...and that felt...really where the thriller side worked for me. I was reading the comments in the trailer itself....and there's a lot of mention about the 'Fast and Furious' movies. I haven't seen all of them and I get why this film really didn't take off. It (the trailer and the film) seemed to want to cater to that crowd while it might have been better off just going to those (like me!) who enjoyed watching 'The Guilty' (I watched the original one and was surprised how tense it manage to be!). Though if it did...would the ending be more satisfying? Or is that why they went all 'Fast And Furious'? That it was a struggle to find how to end Maude's journey? PS: The change in the tone of the film (particularly when Maude started climbing out the cabin) made me wonder if Roseanne Liang had to make some concessions to make studio execs happy.
