Thank you so much for this video! I made several ornaments last year and didn’t do any toppers, just hangers. This year I’m going to try adding toppers! So glad I found your channel. Thanks for sharing!

So cute, will it work using the 3" ball?
@TheOrnamentGirl7 күн бұрын
Yes! You may need to adjust your fabric amounts, and you will obviously end up with a bigger ornament, but there is no reason you couldn't adjust this for a larger ball.

Do you do anything to prep the fabric? What keeps the fabric from raveling? How does the hanger pin not pull out when the ornament is hung?
@TheOrnamentGirl15 күн бұрын
All of the raw edges get hidden so your ornament will not fray or fall apart. They tend to be light enough that the hanger pin won't fall out, but if you're worried about it, you can also add a small drop of glue to that pin to hold it in place.
@amberwendel137216 күн бұрын
Would folding the fabric before assembly still give the same outcome? I was thinking folding and pressing them assemble.
@TheOrnamentGirl15 күн бұрын
You could do the first fold ahead of time, but it won't save you a lot of time. Most of the time, we don't iron our folds, but it won't change the overall look if you decide to do that.

You did a dynamite job explaining. Thanks. After looking at it this morning, I see that my egg/pinecone is upside down, so the petals are going in wrong direction. UGH.

I have a question, please. I have always used 2 1/2 inch square pieces of fabrics. Yours are 3 inches. Does that extra half of an inch make the triangles fit better? If so, it means I can't use my jelly rolls, but would like to
@TheOrnamentGirl28 күн бұрын
I have found that 2" x 3" rectangles give the nicest look and helps save on pins. If you wat to use your Jelly Rolls, that should be fine! You will want to fold that top edge down no more than 1/4". If you find you get to the end and still have foam showing, you might also need to add another layer.

@TheOrnamentGirl29 күн бұрын
Hi! You should be fine with the 2-1/2" pieces. If you have any issue with the pieces not being long enough, I'd just bring the measurements in a little bit (bring the pieces a tiny bit closer to the previous layer). It would be a shame to not use the size you already have! I hope this helps :)

can you help ~ you say to cut your rectangles 2 x 3' whereas someone else with a KZbin video says she got the pattern from you yet she cuts her rectangles 1 1/2 by 2 3/4 inch. What happens if I cut them her size of 1 1/2" x 2 2/3" ? Does it change the effect much? Or does it simply mean I will use more fabric I want to strart cutting the material but will wait till I here back from you
@TheOrnamentGirlАй бұрын
I can't really speak to the technique someone else is using, but we have found that 2" x 3" rectangles give us the best results with the least amount of pins.

I am so confused some times the videos say fold top over 1/4" and others say 1/2". How do I decide which measurement to use. I plan on making the basic star ornament from the original 3 part video
@TheOrnamentGirlАй бұрын
I'm so sorry about any confusion! When you are initially folding your fabric piece, you can fold it over anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2" and it will be fine. You are using that fold to create a nice finished edge, so it doesn't need to be exact.

If you iron the pieces it would be easier to handle.
@TheOrnamentGirl28 күн бұрын
Ironing the pieces can help, but we have found it isn't needed to still get beautiful results!
@reneejurgensen7280Ай бұрын
Some of your videos say to fold the top down 1/4" and some say 1/2". Which would be more accurate to use on the 2 x 3 rectangle ~ Thank you
@TheOrnamentGirl28 күн бұрын
In most cases, you can fold it down anywhere between those two measurements. If you find you get to the Equator of your ball and still have foam showing, you can use the 1/4" measurement.

For the snow globe ornament, what is the size square that you use? Also does the "Picture" in the center need to be a certain size? Thank you. I'm new and I am really enjoying making some of the ornaments.
@TheOrnamentGirlАй бұрын
The Snow Globe pattern is very flexible! It's good to have a 3 to 3.5" square of fabric. The center image can be whatever size you want, although I will let you know that larger images can make it hard to hide wrinkles in the fabric as you frame it in.

Where can I buy pins in bulk at a good price? I go through a LOT of them! I bought 4,000 on Amazon and they are not steel (magnet won't work to pick them up from the floor) and they bend easily. Many are blunt too!

Is fabric tax glue needed to seal the top bows?
@TheOrnamentGirlАй бұрын
We don't seal our ribbons in any way, but you can always do that if you are worried about them fraying.
@heidieverts8705Ай бұрын
Wow, I’m definitely trying these for my Xmas tree this year.
@kimwilliford6303Ай бұрын
If you need to, can you pin the top and bottom of the fabric for assistance in holding the fabric?
@TheOrnamentGirlАй бұрын
Yes, you can add pins where you feel like you might need them, but the fabric doesn't hide the pin heads like a folded fabric ornament does so you'll want to use embellishments to help hide any pins.

Tell you an easier way. Use colored paper to make the strip. Use that same strip to make a straight line and find the center way. Constrast in colors works wonders. ❤
