Calling Michael French a « boomer » is inappropriate and rude. "OK boomer" is used to dismiss or mock attitudes associated with baby boomers. It’s kind of insulting to anyone watching this video who was born in that time period.

"OK Boomer" is used to describe an attitude, not a generation, although that generation is where the stereotypical traits that are described by the term come from ..... namely resistance to new ideas, fear of anything new that they either don't understand or they dislike and a stubborness to anything they disagree with ...... Which in RetroBoy's case, describes his attitudes and reactions perfectly

I know this is an old video but I’m just now seeing it. I am a GI Joe Classified fan. There’s 2 reasons I don’t collect Valaverse - 1) I don’t have a connection to his figures or characters. I grew up in the 80’s, GI Joe and Transformers were my favorite toys and toons. 2) Vala’s rather immature way of complaining about Hasbro, made it hard for me to want to support him. I’m not saying Hasbro is the best, but their Joe team don’t go bashing Valaverse publicly like he does.

I have completely gave up on McFarland I finally cut ties and that was hard to do to be honest because when I started collecting again I was only collecting 7-in figures but when I got Jada Street fighter and it made me see all the other lines that are 6 in that I'm missing out just because I was trying to stay 7 in scale I gave up and yes I've started collecting other lines you can get your DC fix yeah you may have to pay a little bit more if it's a mafex or going back to some good old DC Multiverse from Mattel they actually made quite a few DC Multiverse by Mattel and they were actually pretty good I like those and they were 6-in and then of course like the video was talking about and get some older Mattel by the DCU but trust me people they are more than just Hasbro that make 6 in figures compared to the 7-in

Great review. To me, it just seems like the legends team is on a roll with the figures this year. I know not everyone is going to be a home run. But there are plenty that they've knocked it out of the park this year compared to what they were batting last year.

I agree... I used to watch and enjoy his retrospective videos... but then over time, his complaints got too much.. seemed like whining... but perhaps that's his youtube angle to get likes and subs... or he saw the responses to his complaint videos and his subs agree so he kept going with it.

I used to love the Retroblasting content as well (the Roton video/song was great) but like you, after the change I eventually unsubscribed and ended my Patreon support. I still occasionally check their content to see if anything interest me but usually find nothing. I did see that they made a 5 hour video about Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.... 5 hours is more than twice the length of the actual movie. It only took me about an hour of watching on a plane before falling asleep for a good nap and waking up with no desire to go back and see what I missed to know I didn't like the movie. I just don't understand what drives someone to spend that much time (estimating it probably took 30 - 50 hours of pre-production, production and post-production) making content about something they don't like... and then continue to do that over and over again. But maybe I just don't understand how things work on KZbin and that is why Retroblasting has 10s of thousands of subscribers and I haven't broken 100 yet. Anyway, all that to say, good on you for calling them out and encouraging others to make up their own minds about toys and hobbies.

I mean I guess if you've never watched any of his videos in the last 2 or 3 years or been on any of the Facebook pages he's a part of, you might think that ..... So I'll just assume you haven't watched him lately ..... His agenda with crowdfunding has been very clear, he's spoken of it literally in dozens of videos ..... His agenda on corporate direction for action figures has also been spoken of dozens of times ..... His agenda on outright saying to people that if they disagree with him, they are wrong has been well documented as well ...... His agenda on playing victim when something he spoke of and declared doesn't come to fruition and people call him out on it has also been made very clear ...... So again, I'll just assume you don't actually watch his channel or interact with him on Facebook or Instagram

You can have your own opinion but never defend hasbro. Hasbro always overprices and under delivers. Now that we've seen other companies do much better work for the same price, hasbro's greedy practices are becoming far more apparent. They need better leaders and better project directors, who don't just care about profit. The prices are rising so much that there's more bang for your buck in other lines from other companies. I don't think the cantina is worth even $100, let alone $400+ shipping. There's no floor, no lights or sounds, and it barely comes with any action figures. For the price it should at least come with a lot more figures to fill out the space.

Great video. I used to watch his channel too but I think “The Last Jedi” broke him. I totally agree on the Cantina. It had not one but two playsets in the original Kenner line. It was a focal point for a lot of kids when the original movie came out.

Rationality hasn't been his strong suit for a few years now ...... His opinions on several relevant topics is severely twisted and biased ..... To this day he refuses to admit that toys are no longer for kids, he continues to maintain that if good cartoons were on TV that kids would buy these toys again, even though both of these things are not true ...... It's been widely reported that adults are the number 1 demographic buying not just action figures, but toys in general, a spot previously taken by toddlers ...... and thinking that kids are going to come back to action figures because of a new cartoon, is like saying kids of the 80's just needed a good cartoon to get them to get interested in a hoop and stick like their parents had in the 50's ...... Times have changed and RetroBoy acts like a boomer who can't let go of the past and thinks his POV based on his childhood in the 80's is the only factual way to view life and modern trends ..... He has increasingly become more and more wrong in his opinions over the last few years ...... Nevermind that if he was right about the latest HasLab, it wouldn't have met it's goal, a trend that not only general Hasbro collectors have proven they will make happen, but specifically Star Wars Hasbro fans have proven on multiple occasions by having several failed HasLabs under their belt when a product wasn't good enuff

@@GeekFusion_TV Nearly every toy my kids want or have, started from watching a cartoon or playing a video game. Many adult collectors exist, no doubt but that doesn't change the fact that the entertainment kids take in will hugely impact the toys they want. Anyway, his videos are good and mostly balanced. I don't agree with him on every last point but overall he's preferable to 99% of other toy people on KZbin. Even you are essentially complaining about someone else complaining.

@@The1776er Well yeah, I literally talked about complaining at the beginning of the video ..... and I don't know about your kids, but if they are past the age of 8 and still interested in toys, they are an anomaly ...... Kids 8 to 12 (what used to be the peak of action figure sales accounting for about 85% of all action figure sales) now make up less than 15% of action figure sales, whereas adults over 25 make up 52% of action figures sales and 48% of all toy sales ...... Those are just statistical facts based on research that's been well documented since around 2011 and those number have been consistently growing as children move away from traditional toys to more internet and electronic based entertainment like video games, tablets, phones and social media sites like KZbin ...... These are also well documented facts ...... Yet RB has gotten into arguments with people online and blocked and banned them for disagreeing with him and stating statistical facts ...... I stopped watching Michael's stuff a while back. He's just gotten more & more bitter and a lot less fun over the years. And for someone who is constantly gifted hundreds of dollars worth of vintage toys from his subscribers and other collectors.... I personally think he's got a lot of nerve grandstanding about the toy industry when he basically crowdfunds his CHANNEL. Watch his toy room tours & count how many times he mentions being gifted something. It should be a drinking game. So he can have a seat & buy his own toys if he's such a White Knight.

The latest Cable is inspired by the Cable version from Marvel Vs Capcom games. Lets be honest, Jada is killingit with the SF toy line and we are seeing Hasbro slowly releasing versions of the Marvel Caharcters from the MvC games and it will be dumb from Hasbro to not ride tha wave of collector wanting their 6 inch 1/12 figures to cross over contrary to what Uncle Todd did with DC multiverse. But give it a year and Hasbro will release a full fleged Rob Liefeld X-Men colors Cable. also the Sasquatch Wave Cable is still the best representation of the Classic.

I used to love Retroblasting, and then it all became about how everything is woke, everything is ruined because of woke, or if you enjoy something he doesn't you must be stupid or a "corporate bootlicker". It did stop being about toys and started being about bitching. There is alot of overly sensitive "woke" stuff out there, but god damn the people who need to constantly cry about everything being woke are more insufferable than the people who want everything to be woke.

I got the new zabu wave one and it grew on me a lot. originally i didn’t like it but now I do plus I just bought the select cable for $25 and i’m planning on carving out the big shoulder pouch and swapping the guns for him to make him even better (i’ve seen a custom on reddit)

Like you, I used to enjoy Retrobitching before he decided to make a career of it and has a hardon for bashing modern companies who don't make things for adult children who are more interested in filling shelves than having toys designed for children. He's a grifter, he's a shit disturber and he's boring. I gave up on him years ago after he fell on his face in the debate with the guy who was involved in MOTU.

It's 2 weeks later and I am revisiting this vid. I see my previous comment is still here, and not really surprised it wasn't deleted. I still feel Michael is still...well, Michael. But corporate greed is real. Them using fomo is real. And saying just: "buy what you want", is low-key just telling people to buy mindlessly. I mean, I would love to own a Pagani Zonda, but it's price is over inflated, (17.6 million). Some people have the money to buy the Pagani, but are still reasonable enough to admit, that's ridiculous... The question of Haslab's Cantina just being another cash grab, is a subjective point of view. Are you someone who thinks giving money to a corporation who is obviously trying to make extra money by offering less to you each time, ok? Or is Hasbro offering enough? I can say this for sure, giving something you are barely advertising, only 30 days to crowdfund, by offering tiers to unlock, and then it funding on day 27, and all the fanboys NOT admitting this seems like something formulated by design, is behavior akin to a lamb waiting to be culled. And I hate being manipulated. Whether it's politics, entertainment, or by greedy corporations. A BETTER way to run a company, is to show good faith. To acknowledge it's crowd-funders and fans by interrupting the campaign to say: " We appreciate anyone who funded this, so everyone that did gets all tiers", would inspire us to stay loyal, and ensure future projects... And then everyone is happy, I understand companies want money, but I am on our side, (the fans), so unless you work for Hasbro, or own Hasbro stock, I'd say you'd be hard pressed to disagree...

Picked this up from Aliexpress and it's not bad. The plastic is surprisingly solid but things tend to fall off quite easily. Did you pick up the CT Toys Spiderman 2099? The bootleg is even better than the original because they actually have good looking original faces compared to the original. Paid $18 instead of the atrocious $140 SHF asked for that fig.

Started watching his video on this. When he kept complaining about it being a bar he competely lost me. He conveniently forgets Kenner released a bar. It was the critical hub linking Tatooine to the rest of the story. Between his support of fakery intentionally made to where without extremely close inspection they are mistaken for the real thing which can only be explained as intentional fraud on the collectors of vintage, and his ranting about this he has zero credibility and is just another in the line of people who get channels blocked.

I used to love watching this guy. His videos have that premium video series that you are lucky to be seeing for free feel. ( At times ) I loved the Star Wars: Follies series. My problem is that this man has shown that he is hot headed and has anger in his heart and that is hard to want to watch. The video where he talks about getting the Jabba's Sail Barge toy or whatever it was is where he started losing me. It was the one where he was hating on the toy, then he bought the toy, sent it to some Australian guy personally on a jet. People had conspiracies about how he bought the toy after he told everyone it sucked and they thought that he secretly wanted it for himself and then he went on this save face crusade, and I just didn't value him anymore, because it shows that he can't take criticism or just ignore the naysayers and go on about his life. Also, I heard that he went ballistic once because he was trying to restore his DeLoreon or whatever and things weren't going his way so he threw a tantrum and that just showed more anger and just didn't do it for me.
