Love playing shell voicings cause they're a great moveable shape. I tend to play them with sus2 chords

As a bass player who can not even hold down the regular G chord, I can confirm that I am cooked.

Weird… I can’t get any sound for this video and a couple of others, yet when I play the videos from your channel preceding this the sound works. I even tried installing recent updates & restarting my phone. I suspect it’s something to do with a browser extension, but it’s strange how only certain videos are affected. Based on these comments, no one else is experiencing this. 🤔

G Maj + D Maj = G Major 9 (not sus 2). Suspended or sus chords mean there’s no 3rd.

Dude I had never thought of layering two different chords on top of each other in a song, this is genius wtf, thank you so much
@hippyhobo6285Күн бұрын
I usually play in Em or Am but in any case, using the open strings I find is a crucial part of the sound, whether it be from pull-offs or pedal tones (repeating one underlying note).

E minor is the same as G major!
@hippyhobo628520 сағат бұрын
@morbidanimal333 true but the feel is different because of where the root is, as well as which chords are emphasized (particular the tonic, dominant, and subdominant)

Basically its a 1, 3, 5 chord progression with a little inversions in middle for the flare
@as_v82 күн бұрын
You can even take it more basic. A lot of OG chon songs were just minor and major 7 shell voices. Works wonders with smart rhythms

I’d love to learn the theory behind knowing which chords to combine. I suppose it’s to do with keys, notes and harmonies
@veikko95262 күн бұрын
yeah just look at what the common notes are with the two chords, then what notes are not already in the first chord. So Bm7 over G: G=G B D, Bm7 = B D F# A so the F# and A are the maj7 and the 9th in the context of G major
@veikko95262 күн бұрын
so you would get a gmaj9 chord
@lloydweatherford94053 күн бұрын
Im imagining someone trying to learn complicated chords without ever learning basic chords first, and thats really funny to me. Not that its impissible, just the idea of someone being like i dont know D Major, only D add 9 is really funny
