goddamn, 40 thousand dollars. people really have no idea how much these projects cost you. i respect the excel sheet breakdown. i have a sheet for every project ive ever done and i'm currently at about 17k for my ep3 track build and i just cant bring myself to spend anymore. its literally just throwing money in the garbage. i totally understand its about the journey and having something meaningful to accomplish but at a certain point i have to just pump the brakes. i'd rather have that money in savings or just save up for a 911

Maybe a better rear diff could help with understeer? Probably a bad idea but you might be able to get away with a welded diff, go karts are setup to lift the rear inside tire because they have a solid rear axle so as long ad you tripod the car you're fine lol.
@kawdzilla6 сағат бұрын
Sure as hell not gonna weld this diff. Looking into lsd options though.

clean detailed build sir, would you consider decreasing the wheel base length to solve your understeer? sometimes the answer lies already infront of you, just solved it directly without any mods after sales market parts installed in mind though ..

Dude I just got an EK hatch (EJ6) and I've been brainstorming what I really want out of the build. A K swap is obviously what I want powertrain bc I'm a big Honda NA Vtec fan and I don't want to do boost. So I was thinking what could be done afterwards and I was curious about an NA AWD build, like a 2.5RS Subi which I see all over in the NE. I'm subbed and gonna watch all your vids now !

Dude, awesome build! As for the understeer treat it like a front wheel drive car you wanna loosen up the rear to make it rotate more. Try lesser rear spring rates and lesser shock rebound to promote better weight transfer, but combine it with a stiffer rear sway bar and maybe only a factory front sway bar (You can increase the front spring rate if you’re worried about excess body roll) to force the front suspension to have equal force exerted on the ground left and right. On my Focus ST I’ve had great results with having a little extra rear toe in. And lastly, run an extra 5 pounds of pressure in your rear tires over your front.
@kawdzilla10 сағат бұрын
Appreciate that my friend. But walk me through this, I've always understood that a stiffer rear end works better to get it to rotate in a fwd car, and that was certainly my experience when it was fwd. How does a looser rear end and more toe in for this awd configuration result in more rotation? I would expect the opposite to be true...

Please make a video of your ice racing! Have you tested the response of your rear driveshaft viscous coupler? Put the front wheels on ice, and the rears on pavement, and floor it? How long does it take for power to get to the rear? Any perceptible delay?
@kawdzilla12 сағат бұрын
I’ve already filmed a little of my first iceX event but my GoPro didn’t like the cold, so not much usable footage from outside the car. I’ll be posting it up anyway though. As for the awd testing, I’m keeping my eyes peeled for a spot with those conditions as we speak. It’s coming!

I picked this thing out of the crowd IMMEDIATELY at IceCross the other weekend, so it's odd to see all this footage from MAC events. How did I never notice y'all out there? See you Sunday, and maybe hit a crossover episode at Knock Off The Rust next month?
@kawdzilla13 сағат бұрын
Yo! I only did one MAC event last season, those noise restrictions man. I was mostly out at DCTC. I won’t be at iceX Sunday but I will be out on 2/22 for open track. Would love to make something happen.

@goblinphreak213221 сағат бұрын
just change the rear toe to get it to swing out.... will eat tires a bit faster but you can easily make it kick out with toe adjustment.... or change swaybar settings. or both.
@rinjin654721 сағат бұрын
Feeling all corners force your asscheeks forwards is quite a feeling, rwd and fwd are still great competitors. But AWD when properly done, irreplaceable feeling; launches so brutal you feel your CSF boil from the pressure, feel your balls try to catch up with the rest of your body from a stop 😈 no fucking around. Don’t forget to mention the awd systems that can deactivate individual diffs for goofy fun.

AWD must be the greatest mod to our cars...
@kawdzilla14 сағат бұрын
Indeed. To answer your og question, I sprayed all the steel parts with Fluid Film for the winter. Keeps the water off and rust away. Salty roads here in the Midwest.
@boostismagic10 сағат бұрын
@ yeah, after watching over again, admiring the work, I could tell it was just shiny paint, so I deleted the question 👍🏼 I used Fluid Film on internal rollers, etc, on my brake test platform in 2020, on rainy days the water from the cars dripped on it all day when doing inspections..just tore it out to scrap, cuz Texas eliminated safety inspections…anyway…those parts were still coated and nice…Fluid Film works!
@boostismagic10 сағат бұрын
@ I couldn’t handle those conditions, road salt, etc….what it does to cars is evil

So it's 3wd with the open rear diff? Three is still better than 1 or 2wd with the LSD in front.
@kawdzilla11 сағат бұрын
Basically. For the drag guys it doesn't matter as much (most run open rear diffs) because there's so much grip on a prepped surface. Road racing is a different thing entirely I'm finding out.
