@@LeylaaQ is your Gala like a Moluccan? Always wants to be petted and an attention getter all of the time? Lol! I don't have kids. This bird is my child. Had him since he was about 6 months old. Full time job taking care of him. I used to have two other Amazon parrots a few years back, but sadly, they both had passed. I can only imagine how your day goes with you having 6 parrots. Got to be a lot of work.

I’ve heard Scarlett macaws tend to be nippy. Have you found that to be true? They are stunning colors. We saw them in the wild in Jinetes de Osa Costa Rico. They have no fear or interest in humans, just lots of almond trees that they feed on when in season.

It can be painful to the parrot to have the pinfeathers squeezed or otherwise handled, at least until they are fully in. Ask me how I know ! :(

Talked to my avian vet about it. It's difficult to tell when they are ready to be helped with them, but as you have seen the bird will let you know if they aren't ready ! Best to let the bird do it, although it's hard not to want to help.@@rebeccathegreat8110

1) get little bites ( as you do ! ) when I try too early to get them 2) talked to an avian vet who advised not the try to squeeze or manipulate the pinfeathers as they are very sensitive until fully in. The pinfeathers are itchy when first emerging, gently rubbing or "massaging" the area may feel good to the bird but trying to remove the sheaths too soon obviously causes pain. when the pins are fully in the bird may allow you to help with the sheaths but it is pretty hard to determin at what point that is okay.@@rebeccathegreat8110
