I do it very simply - harmonic chords - minor or major. In various varieties and variations. Bass is just a melody from the lowest layer of chords moved one note lower. Melodies are a lot of work... And here I can do a lot, but now it's more about making a great :) song. The key is to bring out a good sound, for which you need to have talent and a lot of work.

Amazing stuff man! Love the golden edm era vibes! Quick tip for automating the sidechain of the reverb and delay for leads etc - if you use instead of the fruity peak controller a compressor sidechained to the lead signal you have more control of letting the fxs go up after the ducking in time with the bpm of the track which ends up in a way cleaner mix and more rhythmic effect. :)
