Rustfree ones with Chrome grills are died out in Germany. The metal was to thin to withstand the rust.

As a youngster in the Netherlands, I've owned an Inka Orange 1802. Fun car to drive. I'm 70 now and still driving a BMW 50 years later.

The thing that always amuses me is that so many of these old black Cadillacs for sale feature 'The Godfather' theme song in the video. But yet, I have yet to see just ONE car that corresponds with year of the cars actually used by the characters. Vito Corleone and Don Barzini both had a 1940 Fleetwood. Clemenza had a 1955 and Tom Hagan had a 1946 Fleetwood.

A fine Cadillac from a Mob family. Part of the deadly romance of our culture. Our family had a triple black '68 Coupe deVille, and somehow my Dad even let me drive it sometimes. What I remember is the hypnotic aroma of the black leather interior and the hushed power of the 472 V8. Wonderful!

Years ago, I worked as a lot boy at an import car dealer in the Denver area. There was one of these inside awaiting some kind of service and it really caught my eye because of the notchback styling. It was not something you saw everyday on 60s Porsches. I always wondered who owned it and what happened to it. This one is a beauty!

I have a 49 Mod 62, this is by far the best Mod 60S Ive ever seen. 49 is a transition year. Last year for the split windshield, trunk handle, door handles also. I do like the trim on the Model 62 better. 1948 was last year for the flathead.

A guy I know who has a lot of 50s and 60s Cadillacs told me that old flathead 8 was a very smooth running Cadillac engine

I always thought that the 1948 - 49 Cadillacs were beautiful cars,with great proportions - their style is timeless....
@steves46394 жыл бұрын
spectacular. this '49 still shown with the attention to detail and assembly Cadillac was known for pre-war, and was the 1st year of the new V8. however, each subsequent year, Cadillac slowly ratcheted down the the quality and exclusivity of their brand, instead going for sales quantity, until '57 when it truly abandoned the standard of the world ethos. By the late 60's, they were basically trimmed out Chevy's. I love my '58 Fleetwood for its over the top style, but it does not match the solidity and quality of the '49 Fleetwood.

It's very obvious by the mid 70's that Cadillac was just a brand-name only and not a guarantee of superlative quality as it was known for. Although I do like the styling of the 1969 and 1970 models, if I had to choose one. But the early post-war sedans definitely are worth their merit. I'm more of a Chrysler man than a GM guy myself, I have a 68 Newport, and I feel like even though it's an entry level Chrysler, there definitely was effort put into the car compared to others of the time. But I would also give consideration to how primitive the manufacture process was back then compared to now, so the same car model could be very differently build across 2 cars, and one could last for 50 years while another died at 50,000 miles...many factors. But GM's cheapness bit it in the ass (along with Chrysler, near around the same time as GM, come to think of it). As an aside, I have a soft spot for the mid 60's Mercury line of Sedans. Very underrated cars if you asked me, I wanted one, but the frame was junked, and the Chrysler was cooler to me. Alas, someday...
