Shouldn't be reusing the old bolts/nyloc nuts. Went off camera when it got 'tricky'. Isn't that exactly the information novice viewers might want to see? No torquing of the bolts. Zero prep/cleaning of old surfaces. No anti-seize. Not overly impressed.

On yours, dear viewer, you'll probably find the shonkier/newer injector hold-downs that are just pressed flat steel & those don't lift out without both injectors coming with... Your injectors also probably won't "pop" out - they'll seem stuck solid.. Key thing then is to grab a deep 14mm socket, pop on an extension bar, put the socket over the pipe-connector(on the injector) & use it to get the injector wiggling a bit side to side. It still won't pop out. Nosiree. Pry & pull all ye like. Key thing here is to remain calm & grab a slide-hammer. Hook that under the fuel -fitting & give the injectors a good smack upwards (you will have the hammer at a very steep angle as access is a bit crap). The injectors will now "pop" out. Generally as an oily mess... You will find 1 or 2 are covered in hard black carbon deposits - that is because the sealing washers have crapped the bed & is the cause of your leaks, smoke & general mayhem. These leaks stuff the rocker-cover breather full of crap, it blocks & the engine pressurises itself, leaking oil. Clean everything (say it fast), fit new injector sealing washers & fit a shiny new rocker cover. Thank me later. :-)

I have to add, you will encounter other "issues" - the rail main feed pipe will be reluctant to come off - it will have seized where it goes onto the high pressure pump, etc etc - these are, I can safely say, one of the cheapest built, shonkiest, most corner cutting engines you will encounter. If Ford believed they could get away with using a plastic crank, this is the engine they would have fitted it to.

Given the state of the original chassis. I'm surprised no one makes a complete new rear end. Just lop off the old one and weld in a new one.

I took off the valve cover and two bolts were so rusty that they broke off when I barely applied force to unscrew them. You made this look so easy lol.

Never tighten bolts up by their heads!! You'll sheer the heads off!! You must always tighten the nut itself, whilst holding steady the head with a socket.

Hi, thanks for this. It is really helpful. Just a question, what spec is this leon? I have an FR 184, and I know the suspension is supposed to be different on these. Is it still the same process?

I have a question, the rocker cover seems to be everywhere and I am having high p re assure in my rocker but the cylinder heads seem to be fine. Do you know if the rocker cover has its own air filter path out that could be blocked? No air pressure seems to come out the side on a recirculating pipe I would have though that would let the pressure out to the exhaust. (Vans 🙈 who would have em)

Thanks I’ve managed to get this sorted… I think the problem was the copper washer not being seated correctly so after cleaning and replacing the injectors I gave them a couple of slight taps on the top with a rubber mallet to ensure they were seated (I read somewhere to hit them with 20lb of force but I didn’t want to damage them) then torqued the stretch bolts
