I live in Elmira heights it sad what Elmira has become the crime is high and cost living high now there trash everywhere bunch of homeless now now the one bridge is blocked off the one side because there was fire under it from homeless. If could get crime to stop or go back down and clean it up it would be nice cute place but 72 flood didn’t help it that when the shit hit the fan everyone lost there business everything want down hill from there I think I mean when I was kid i live in horseheads would go Elmira a lot back then it wasn’t that bad it just got worst each year I think this year has gotten so bad.

I moved from there about 5 years ago. It was my childhood home and this video gave me a lot of memories back. It sure was a horrible place to live with the crime rate being so high. But it'll always be the best place in the world for me. Even though I'm in a much better place, I still get homesick. Anytime I visit I break down in tears because I'm so happy to be back home

A little small city between two major Prisons. No jobs, no life. It’s like living in the movie Groundhog Day. Each day exactly the same, with the same faces over and over again. I left quick.

Major. It won’t revive. The city functions off of human services. The homeless issue is disgusting. The idea is to keep the human service funds from the government pouring in. It will never be more than it is.

Heartbreaking. I lived there in my early 20s and it was a vibrant clean small city with an a great nightlife and music scene. Moved to NYC in 87 and haven’t been back since 97. What a shame. 😢

@@robs531streets are covered in garbage worse than most big cities, crime rate is pretty high for a city this size, lots of addiction happening, tons of homelessness, even more abandoned/burned out houses, not a lot of good employment opportunity, I could go on. That said, cost of living is super cheap and you can make a nice life here if you mostly keep to yourself. I make significantly less than I did where I used to live but I have more money because everything is so cheap. A part of that might be that the restaurant scene is atrocious unless you like bad pizza and mediocre wings so I don't eat out nearly as much as I used to. I've learned to cook so many things since I got out here. I'm happy and many of the people here are happy, but honestly most people wouldn't consider Elmira to be a nice place to live.
