His mentioning all the behind the scenes people was classy.

No shade, but remember when actors prepared acceptance remarks that said something eloquent or enlightening or inspiring? Now, acceptances are exercises in extemporaneous ad-libbing, or endless lists of names that people feel obliged to mention (sometimes read numbingly from a list), or, worse, melodramatic "performances" where the actor is "overwhelmed," "speechless," sometimes in tears and often near-hysterical.

Reese was spectacular as June Carter! She definitely deserved that Oscar. But personally I think that Felicity Huffman was a revelation in Transamerica! She was the Best Actress in that year!

Robin was a true gift to us all. He was a brilliant Stand Up Comedian. Then the Star of a TV Show. And eventually a Movie Star. So highly Creative and Intelligent. Bravo.

11 years today😢 I was blown away watching him in Capote. Just a phenomenal actor You can see how greatly admired he was by his peers. Doesn’t get the fanfare like the pretty boy actors do but he was far superior in every way. RIP great man

Helen Hunt wasn’t really that great in As Good as it Gets. She gets a ton of love for it, but I found her performance subpar. Let’s face it Jack carries that movie. Kinnear outshined her.Hollywood tends to give out these awards to actors who probably shouldn’t have won. Good for her I guess.

I had a wonderful experience with Robin Williams that I will always treasure. One of my first jobs in the industry was as an in-house studio PA (Production Assistant). Every Monday we would report to our office, and the studio would farm us out to whatever production needed us for that week. We did TV pilots, mostly, but on this particular week I was assigned to the movie TOY (1992). It was a lot of "goffering", but I also had a lot of town-time. One particular day I was shooting hoops (badly) in... I want to say Stage 16? If you've seen the film; hat was the stage that had the miniature city in it, where all the children danced., but it didn't take up the entire stage, and the company had erected a basketball hoop at the opposite end. Anyway, I was trying to shoot hoops, when out of the corner of my eye I noticed a a head of bright yellow hair. Robin wore a wig for the role. I stopped shooting and looked over at him. He seemed a little taken aback so I asked if he'd like to play. He smiled and nodded his head no, quietly. "Taking a break from the circus," I asked. He chuckled softly and quietly said, "yes." "Yeah. I imagine it's tough being on all the time. Don't worry. I won't tell them you're here." He called me over and asked me who I was and what I did. I told him that I was a studio PA, but that eventually I wanted to become a director, and that I had just graduated from CSULB with a film degree. We talked about the business and the Bay Area, and the Niners. I told him I actually knew the girlfriend of the realtor who sold him his house and realized that his house was the only one with an unobstructed view of the bay. He laughed again. "Yah, that's the one." Then the AD came in and called him to set. We shook hands and I told him how nice it was to meet him. "It was nice meeting you too, Kevin," and then he left the stage. I didn't see him for the next two days I was working there. I was mostly doing runs back and forth from the stage to the production office, but I never forgot the encounter, and I miss him. He was a good soul.

Wag the Dog is a favorite of mine. Dustin was extraordinary. All fine Actors. That said, Nicholson is captivating on the Big Screen. Think of Cookoos Nest. Easy Rider. The Shining. Even in some of his less successful films he was magnetic.
