My thought's on this are VERY simple. If you can't pay attention well enough to make a simple gear shift, what else are you not paying attention to? Shifting gears becomes muscle memory fairly quickly. No real energy or effort expended. People paying attention to their cell phones is FAR more distracting and mentally draining than shifting gears is. Then there is the whole fact that in inclement weather, I will outsmart that auto shift on gear selection and maintained RPM every single time improving not only my safety, but the safety of those around me on the roads. My personal observation is this: As more and more auto-shift trucks have made it in to the industry, the quality of drivers has dropped off significantly. In the interest of keeping things brief, I will not cite any statistics here. What I will say is that statistics do show that as more and more auto-shift trucks have hit the road, accident rates and other problems have increased.

The shiny air intakes ??, i would rather see exterior air cleaners , 1 when you put the air cleaner under the hood you just added heat to the air system & 2 now the air filtet housing & filter are probably proprietary to K.W.only ?? 🤑🤑

It’s worthless. Theres no use in trying to make trucks for dummies. I’m currently trying to get information on how to eliminate all the dummy helps. I don’t need any help staying safe. I hate it with a passion. All I needed was to see that you think it’s a great thing so I’m finished with you and your videos.

I just purchased a 579 PETERBILT. It has a long duration start time. My kenworth service team is repairing the RSV valve .. hoping that's it will fix that. And performing a recall on the bolts for the bearing caps. While doing so , they're looking at the cam shift for wear.... stay tuned.. its hard to understand the complexity of the trucks problems. Previous owner just drove..n drove it... with minimum service .

Im not a truck driver but i do work on trucks and kve driven just about every combo you can think of. The automatics, even in the newest models are such garbage. Like drvong them around the yard or having to park them is so annoying. You feather the pedal they dont go you lush a little harder then their damn near full throttle. Idk if having a trailer or a load helps it at all but if it dosent i feel bad for people having to back up to buildings with these trucks. Every manuel ive driven was always so easy to drive the truck smoothley.

So one automated has the lag between shifts like a manual. The other has no lag and shifts fast like an automatic.

There is no versus here. One is a great looking staple of the trucking industry for DECADES. The other, well, the other is a bad idea that happened. The folks at paccar really should have quit designing new trucks after the T2000. That alone should have told them they were on the wrong path! Truly disappointing in my view point.

Hey Josh. Nice job not explaining anything. I had to figure everything out on my own. You skipped several steps, which one of the main parts was pulling down the red tab, then pressing in the black tab directly below the red tab while pulling the bulbs out simultaneously! You need to explain these steps a whole lot better to those who are actually looking for help on what may seem simple on gour eherlers, but in actuality, it's a pain in the ass on a semi. For those trying to figure this simple complicated thing out, this is how it's done.

We are in a W900. We pull heavy haul RGN. My German Shepherd , Xena has her own bed under our bunk. My wife has her chihuahua, Betty Boop and abet to us son, Tarzan, who is Half Jack Russell. He earned his name because when he was a little puppy,he learned how to climb anywhere in the truck. Wedged between the passenger seat and the door he could climb to the seat and then jump to the door and get on the dash. We still bang our heads climbing in the doors or from the back to front. The Cat 500 is a little loud. Thirteen speed. I enjoy your videos. I have a question, is the w990 bigger inside than the t680?

You sir are clearly not a truck driver your salesman you clearly haven't had to drive with the system I have had this is to put the brakes on me unexpectedly many times on icy roads for nobody else is around almost causing me to be in an accident I've got 20 years driving and ice road experience of running the Arctic the system is horribly dangerous

HURTING trucking more than you ever knew. We don’t need a radar system that auto locks brakes when it sees its own shadow. People that make these things never drove in their life.

been waiting on a test like this for a long time. thank you so much. well done video my friend! I feel like in my dump truck once I went to a auto I average 1-2 loads extra per day doing city deliveries. and you don't have to worry about a driver messing it up as bad if they don't know how to float gears.
@RBdeBell2 ай бұрын
Its just about learning how to use it... in Europe we drive mainly automated 13-speed in trucks, there is no problem while fully loaded. They work perfectly fine. I think manual transmission is fine too. Just use what makes you drive better :D

It is still ridiculously expensive.... especially when the bolts on the side that, didn't get damaged... are rusted so bad that the break off somewhere in the fiberglass ... forcing you to replace both sides regardless. Nope, Nope... no matter what way you look at it, Kenworth is clearly staffed by idiots who never held a CDL or owned a truck.

You're full of sh!t it doesn't jerk. Let a car cut in front of you front of you at 45 and it will SLAM on the brake before you can change lanes or apply the brakes yourself. You don't have to be close for this to happen. It will calculate your rate of closure and if it determines its to fast (according to its standards) it will literally SLAM on the brakes. You can keep your nanny truck.

Replacing a clutch is easier than changing a transmission. For an OTR driver there is also a weight difference. A manual is lighter. I like the idea of floating gears. i wish i had a manual in my car.
