Nice video, thanks, but as a geared head user, the idea of using my tilt shift lenses with a ball head, seems like hell on Earth!

Now I have to watch youtube videos on how to roller blade.
@DJphotoandtech Жыл бұрын
Hi. I am having a debate on Imgur with someone about the rollerblade taxi shot. They are convinced (or just trolling) that that shot is two shots spliced together. Can you confirm on the record that it is all just one shot and that there are no hidden cuts?
@LowLightVideos Жыл бұрын
It's kinda three things, first there's two cameras, one filming the other camera, example here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnXZY4KPgK52pcU Second there's the Movi taking the shot (take one): kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnXZY4KPgK52pcU . They literally say: "Every shot you see is shot with the Movi": kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnXZY4KPgK52pcU . Third, You can see that in take one the Movi operator (on roller skates) rides always on the road and exits the cab window at the intersection while remaining on the road: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnXZY4KPgK52pcU but in take two (shown from the Movi operator's viewpoint, his clip) he jumps up on the sidewalk and the intersection is approximately 25 feet in front of him: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnXZY4KPgK52pcU . But despite the complexity of three clips, two from the Movi, the "in cab" shots (the second two) were both shot on the Movi. The first shot is necessary, you need a separate camera to show the Movi operator, he can't film himself. It probably would have been better if the second half was one clip instead of two; that doesn't change that both were filmed by the Movi rig. It's not "a hidden cut", it's fairly obvious that there are two takes of the same action, it's only the end (pulling out of the window) where the exit route is different. Thanks for asking, I think this was asked many years ago when this first came out; buried deep in the first comments.

I have the 24 mm TS. I can use the 17 on a full frame body and move it to a crop sensor body and then have a 24 (approximately) on that body. What do you see as advantages/disadvantates to using this technique?
@LowLightVideos Жыл бұрын
The lower amount of shift would be the disadvantage, using a lens you already own is the advantage. You can probably not crop (in camera) and do it in post, either accepting a bit of vignette or more finely cropping and gaining a slight increase.

Very excellent presentation and I've seen MANY. I wonder which head, geared, you are using for proper leveling. I just ordered the Arca-Swiss d4 Geared Pan Classic Tripod Head and look forward to more convenient leveling. Thank You Sir.

How amazing. But I do have a question. What's this video concerning people before the 1920s? No disrespect whatsoever oh, but I did not see anyone other than Caucasians that were given Awards or were nominated. Was African Americans available to the film world at this era of time? Just a simple question?🙋🏾

Bradford Young is the first African American Cinematographer to be nominated (in 2017) - prior to the creation of this video. Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bradford_Young#Career He is not listed on Wikipedia's page, perhaps you would like to make the edit: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:African-American_cinematographers

@@LowLightVideos Thanks so much for responding. I watch this show very often. It has great information and teachings. I am an Indie Filmmaker, shooting my first feature in April. When I saw this particular video, I felt as if I was in a time warp. Nonetheless, the show was awesome, just had a simple question. Thanks for your reply!!

8 years ago, this was the explosion that caused indie filmmakers to step out and stop running after labels and production houses to produce their ideas. Even today, this video seems to be the goal for many aspiring filmmakers. To be able to learn, grow and make something like this is an achievement in itself.

Thanks Vincent for a great, very helpful video. Very well done and educative. I use a Nikon PC 28 mm F 3.5 shift lens. Excellent old school PC Lens. Usually I shoot 3 photos of an interior and use Photomerge in Photoshop to stich the 3 photos. Photomerge dose the merging well, however I get some bands of grey where photos overlap as the exposure of each of the 3 photos is slightly different when the lens is shifted vertically a few millimetres for each photo. Would you, or anyone else here, know if there Is a way to resolve this banding of greys on the merged final photo ? Thanks ! I Subscribed with great interest.

Get rid of the end screen thumbs at the end. You are still talking and it looks like it was a nice close. You’ll get more views gained and subscribers if we are happy at the end, not busy thinking what we will say in comments. Now I’ve forgotten what I would have said. But it was all outstanding otherwise.

You go into great detail about the shifting for buildings. But you skip through the tilt in order to get larger depth of field.The bit with the clock 15 secs max of explaination!

In the BTS footage, the rollerblading cam operator always stays on the road when he veers away from the taxi at the intersection. In the "movie" footage, there is a large chunk of sidewalk in the foreground.... So the BTS footage does not correspond to the take we are shown. Strange decision. Great piece of kit though, in a class of its own. No doubt.

A very good, informative video. But the "go ahead and..."" detracts so much. "Go ahead" was said *37* times in this video. I don't see why something can't just be done, instead of "going ahead" and then doing something.
