Thank you. I subbed. Can I ask you some questions: 1. If you had to redo, would you go with colored gloss black ppf? 2. I am leaning towards gloss black colored ppf so I wouldn't need to put a clear ppf wrap on top of the vinyl wrap like you did in your other video. Seems like double to work. 3. Do you think the colored ppf will peel off easier since it's installed using wet method with soapy water and squeegee. Your vinyl seems to be sticky method with heat gun so it's less likely to peel? 4. If gloss black colored ppf is good, which roll would you recommend? Any links? I am thinking of the twraps $1700 pre-cut gloss black pff (it won't let me link).

1.) PPF is little bit more effort on the edges to roll. It obviously better life than Vinyl. I might still do Vinyl again since its fraction of price as compare to ppf. Even if its 1500 $, I can do it 3 times with Vinyl. 2.) I did not clear ppf whole body, just the front which is more exposed to bugs and aggressive cleaning/scrubbing. 3.) Peeling of is going to be tough, ppf will also be tough. Vinyl is probably little more messy. 4.) When I did research for Model Y, I like good brands like Stek Dyno etc. But whole idea is keep the cost as low as possible and keep redoing it (*my thought) . If you think you will put good amount of money and stick to the same color for longer time then ppf is the way to do. 1700 $ pre-cut ppf is not bad but I know some more places like 1200 $, someone known purchased this and installed cybertruckwraps.us/collections/cybertruck-ppf-diy-kits

If you be very careful with cuts and make no mistakes then you can finish with 50 ft. I did make mistakes and had to redo 2 panels, so for me 75 ft worked out, I do have some spare cut out. I do not see Amazon has 75 ft option anymore, you either you can try with 50 and if you land up with mistake then buy 25 ft option.

How are you powering the unit ? I had same issue when I powered using a less amp adaptor (120 v to 12 v adaptor), it use to work but when it came to last leg of applying force to lift, it will die. So now I have high watt/amp adaptor.

The $3, 5 minute solution: self service car wash, no soap required.
@TeslaDiyMan
@TeslaDiyMan Ай бұрын
yep .... depends ... car wash does not clean wheels to my standards. 😆
@xeler8r
@xeler8r Ай бұрын
Awesome vid! But did it really solve it? You cleaned the wheels really nicely - but in a week, won't the dust be back? Genuine question. Mine are orange AF.
@TeslaDiyMan
@TeslaDiyMan Ай бұрын
Ceramic will repel the brake dust for about 1-2 years (depends how much you wash), if not repel then atleast it does not allow to stick to the wheel. Then it will again start sticking when ceramic coating layer will be lost. Then redo !!! :) ... new video ... haha
@newguy69
@newguy69 Ай бұрын
there doesn't seem to be a lag when the wheels start turning, thus the computer responds quickly, it's just the wheels take time to adjust to the final position. Question is, would you be able to turn that fast with mechanical steering, anyway? I don't think 'lag' is the correct term to describe this, and believe me, I'm super sensitive to lag, like wireless headphones drive me crazy.

Have you looked into any way to waterproof your cyber truck bed vault? I would love to keep a piece of carpet back there but so much water gets in from rain. Any ideas?
@TeslaDiyMan
@TeslaDiyMan Ай бұрын
I did not face any significant problem so far, but yes if I pour water really hard then some drops do drip inside, I will probably check out when I am touching that area for a rear camera install. Work in progress to do research for rear camera.

I’m going to try PPF from gswf. Do you think 60” x 54’ would be enough for a full wrap or should I get 2x rolls ?
@TeslaDiyMan
@TeslaDiyMan Ай бұрын
I think you can do it. If you ensure to take some cuts properly. One place where I saved was the roof triangular piece, I put a join on top most angle and its not visible at all.

They work good gang BUT, better inventory the parts prior to starting. I had one round spacer over, one 13mm bolt and 8 flat washers short. Also note, the mounting bracket behind the front wheel is right over the front JACK POINT so it would suffer damage from the jack. I need to made an adapter to protect the bracket or the running board would have to be dropped before even changing a front tire🫣
@TeslaDiyMan
@TeslaDiyMan Ай бұрын
That is correct, I discovered that too, I think we need to remove the front bracket only incase you need to jack your truck. I will be doing that in upcoming few days and see how this goes.
