I replaced the tremolo in my Jem Jr with a Gotoh GE1996T. Made a world of difference. I like the Gotoh because it has a push in bar and the blocks that hold the strings in can't get lost because they aren't really blocks. They are hinged and flip up to insert the string, and flip down and then get tightened onto the string just like you'd tighten the blocks on the other tremolos.

I have a JemJR too! Was the substitution easy? I purchased a cheap Floyd rose just to get accustomed to working on the guitar on my own, but I've noticed my poor guitar (which was used by someone else before me) had some holes drilled incorrectly :')

@@alessiomasciandaro1022 The Gotoh comes with the posts but they are thicker. It would be risky to try and expand the holes so the stock posts were used. The Gotoh was a drop in replacement. A Floyd may or may not be different. Some tremolos have different spacings between the knife edges.

@@JoeR203 wont the metal from the gotoh wear out the metal of the stock studs in the JEM JR. I was thinking of the gotoh 1996t but everywhere people say new wider holes need to be drilled to fit the gotoh studs.

@@korat10 I would imagine it depends on how violently you use the tremolo. And yes, the Gotoh holes need to be 11mm and the stock Floyd Rose/Ibanez Edge holes are 10mm. But the Jem Jr didn't have much wiggle room to enlarge the holes. There was the possibility of having to do extra reinforcing to the guitar body.

@@JoeR203 I found out that the Gotoh bridge fits with original Floyd rose studs so in this case I’m gonna buy OFR studs for like £40 and use those as they are the same size as the original Ibanez posts and are made of steel

Looks good. Clean and restore that Edge so it can be made to live another 35 years :)

Any ideas how exactly to clean it? and I couldn't find saddles anywhere to replace the old ones:(

@@frosthammer. if you're US based Ibanez rules would be the first stop I'd make you will want 6 cosmo black saddles to restore the bridge.

LockMeister is the only way to go. It may be expensive, but it will last for years.
