I was born in 1951. I can tell you for a fact that my mother never cooked or cleaned house in full makeup, high heels or pearls. True, she was a stay at home Mom but she wore slacks and no makeup around the house. I certainly can’t speak for everyone but my experience of the 50’s was nothing like the Donna Reed Show. People must realize that Hollywood depictions of family life in the 50’s were artificial and idealized just as sit-coms today are an exaggeration of current family life. Styles change but human nature doesn’t. No time period is free of problems. People in those days had just as many faults and bad behaviors as now but were more hypocritical about concealing them. It’s nice to have a sense of nostalgia but I appreciate the advancements and freedoms of today.

Wish they still built things like they did in the fifties. The cars, the appliances, even the houses. People were proud of the things we built back then cause it was built to last. Now it seems like everything is built to fail on purpose just so you have to go out and buy another. Praise to these people who want to live like it was when things were much simpler and better made. 👍
