The motor is 49cm wide and 61cm high. You can't lift it from the top, you need a very wide beam which means that a crane has to be extremely high to be far enough away from the load. No lego crane I've seen (that didn't have hidden aluminium rods) could . But I'd be happy to be proved wrong by seeing a video of such a load being lifted far away from the centre of rotation, and if I can then also see what has been built into the boom ;-) Do you have such a video? 🙂 Translated with DeepL.com (free version)

@@legolaus1 I recently did a test lift of 10lbs with an 8 foot main boom and it picked it easily. I'll have to get back to you after some more testing. Currently I have it set up with a 6 foot main and 6 foot luffing boom while checking stability. The only non Lego parts that I'm using are steel rods for the main pivots as even carbon fiber axles were breaking, and I'm running 3d printed sheaves with built in bearings. The Lego pulleys wouldn't allow for enough to get the reduction needed and the plastic on plastic built up way too much friction. Edit: I very much enjoy your builds and they provide me with a different perspective on engineering designs.

@@mephInc Many thanks for the kind words 🙂. By "fake" I mean without steel or 3D. The motor weighs 20lbs, you have to lift it wide at the bottom, it has a very high centre of gravity. It is too unstable at the top, so a crossbar would be necessary. But that's exactly what I meant with the text, Lego alone has its limits, exactly where you have used bearings and steel

@@mephInc I don't condemn it either, you should have fun with your model. I publish the instructions on rebrickable and can't use anything other than lego there. So other solutions are taboo for me. That's why a crane made only from lego was out of the question for me, because it can't do it. You've named exactly the weak points

Den Faun habe ich im Herbst angefangen, das waren knapp drei Monate vom ersten Teil bis zur Anleitung. Das Hubsystem hat ähnlich lange gebraucht 🙂

The USB-Connector for communication with the second mindstorms controller. The slave works as a portexpander 🙂

Wie kann es sein, dass bei Lesdiy nur der V16 Dieselmotor gerade mal 350 € kostet, bei BuildaMoc der Emergency V16 Diesel Generator aber fast 2.000 € ? Wegen der fast 3.500 weiteren Teilen und der Mindstorm Ausstattung ???

Buildamoc liefert dieSets mit original Legoteilen, Lesdiy mit Teilen von anderen Herstellern. Und tatsächlich ist das Mindstorms EV3 schwer beschaffbar und war schon immer teuer. Und wie Du auch schreibst, es sind wesentlich mehr Technik-Teile. Lesdiy ist also die günstige Alternative, wenn man jedoch original Teile haben möchte, kann man bei Buildamoc schauen. Tatsächlich habe ich selbst schon schlechte Erfahrung mit den kopierten Teilen gemacht, zwar nicht bei dem Modell,aber bei anderen. Daher gebe ich auch keine Modelle an Lesdiy, bei denen ich Zweifel habe, daß sie funktionieren könnten

That is very positive feedback for me! I also wanted to indirectly show people what this model actually is, hence the lurid scenes at the beginning. Hardly anyone can imagine what a puzzle box is. I'm very pleased that you enjoyed this video 🙂

Tatsächlich hatte ich auch Blockaden, was aber damit zusammenhing, daß ich die Box öfter kippen mußte um in die Löcher reinfilmen zu können. Und es ist wirklich seeeehr filigran, es muß alles passen... bei der nächsten 'Box versuche ich sie etwas betreibssicherer zu gestalten 🙂

Ich hab das Sound Modul für meinen Kenworth W900 nachgebaut. Beim Rückwärtsfahren ist allerdings so gut wie kein Sound dabei. Man hört großteils nur den M Motor. Ich hab 2 XL Motoren und einen L Motor und für das Soundmodul auf einer Mould King 6 Channel gekoppelt und für Standgas extra noch einen Batteriekasten angeschlossen. Find ich als Lösung nicht so schlecht, da ich keinen Buwizz Akku besitze. Werd ich demnächst mal bei Technic Dialog reinstellen. Wir hatten uns schon mal kurz unterhalten. Ich hab den schwarzen W900 nochmal im Chassis verstärkt und die Schlafkabine bisschen detaillierter nachgebaut. In der Schlafkabine ist jetzt das Soundmodul versteckt. Bei der Mould King ist 1 Servo = Lenkung, 2XL= Fahren, 1 L Motor = Soundmodul und ein M Motor = Sattelsperre. Die Batterie-Box hat lediglich noch einen M Motor für das Standgas. Gruß B3N94

Ja, bei der Lösung mit dem Differential habe ich das auch als Nachteil beschrieben und es etwas "verschleiern" wollen, indem ich argumentiert habe, daß man Rückwärts nicht so schnell fährt ;-) Hauptsächlich ging es mir darum zu inspirieren, daß man die Modelle etwas lebendiger machen kann mit eigens mechanisch erzeugtem Klang. Die Idee es in die Schlafkabine als Platz dafür finde ich sehr gut 🙂

@@legolaus1Achso na ich bin manchmal etwas zu schnell und voreilig. Deswegen muss ich das mit dem Rückwärtsfahren übersehen haben. Bitte um Verzeihung. Ich werd nochmal Sachen an meinem 86er Fruehauf Trailer ändern. Hab vor 2 Jahren die Stützen um 2 Studs zu tief eingesetzt. Es schleift zwar nicht aber ich werde es auch so der Kurbel von meinem 50's Fruehauf Tanktrailer vom DUEL Peterbilt 281/351 nachbauen. Der gesamte Truck ist jetzt bei 1,28m. Hab dieses Jahr noch 5 Projekte wie einen 1929 Bentley 4 1/2 Litre Blower, 1923 Ford Model TT, 1932 Ford Model A 5 Window Hot Rod. Arocs 8×8 ist schon drinne. Hat ich glaub in der zweiten oder dritten reingestellt.

5 km von mir war früher eine Kaserne. Einmal im Jahr war da Tag der offenen Tür mit Vorführungen und am Anfang durfte man mit allem mit fahren. Gab extra damals eine ausgebaute Straße, das man zu Kaserne kommt. Ich wohne am Berg begrenzt auf 6t und 12% Steigung und ein Elefant hat damals mit einem leopard 2 gemeint er muß da lang fahren nachn Manöver. War eine lange Bergung....

@@kormotechnic6381 Ah, das erklärt es! Mir ist mal im Westerwald eine Kolonne von den Franziskas entgegengekommen, ich bin zwar selbst große LKW gefahren, aber diese Breite war doch sehr beeindruckend. Zum Glück war ich im PKW, trotzdem mußten wir alle auf den Bürgersteig rüber
