I have a tap handle tool for threading. I have done the threading of a circular hole in 30X30 aluminium profile. But some of the aluminium profiles has a square hole so how should I do tapping there? please help me

Anybody questioning what you can build with these erector set like aluminum extrusions .If you do a search on online,a guy built a 3 wheeler powered by a 1000 cc Hayabusa engine out of 80/20.He bolted them together and then did a final welding.

In industry the profile is mainly used for guarding and ESD work benches. As a company we have built things from circuit board jigs to helicopter landing platforms, conveyor tracks to gaming simulators. The profile is really versatile and easily put together without the need of welding. This can make this cheaper to use than traditional steel structures. although in the case of what you describe as a 3 wheeler with such a high power engine I would of probably looked to use steel for strength or carbon fibre for saving weight.

The 3 jaw chuck will wear off very fast! Besides grinding 3 planes on the drill bit, we are trying to think of a better way to mount a collet chuck to the front of a power drill.

There are multiple places that sell this and other kinds of aluminium. The people that sell the profile are not the people that manufacture them. They are usually bought in from turkey, Switzerland, China or Germany. Most profiles are based upon either Bosch Rexroth profile or ITEM profile. The profile in this video is based upon the ITEM range. A quick google search for aluminium profile will bring up a few websites showing the various ranges. Remember to check stock levels before ordering with a company for profile as this is not only a good indication of the size and readiness of the company but the time it can take for some companies to get the extrusion in from an extruders can be 4+ weeks.

His chuck is slipping because of HSS mirror finish shaft. Everyone is sh%t at this. Solve by grinding three planes on the mirror shaft. Or use a drill to tap adapter.

Just not to tight it's better to slip it than it is to break a tap off in the project

SegoMan that why you turn the tap 2 times and turn it out 1 time
@SegoMan
@SegoMan 8 жыл бұрын
That is dependent on the type of material being tapped. The harder the material the fewer turns in.

This is one of the strongest tap - cuts thru aluminum like butter. hard to break, therefore may increase productivity by modifying the tap.

@@SegoMan It tough to get the chucks on cordless drill tight enough not to slip, getting one to break a 5/16" or possibly even a 1/4" tap would be difficult.
