When you dont have the string savers the gut shreds faster especially with serve or spin.

Gut shreds apart way quicker than poly strings. Synthetic gut seems to be the new lasting strings.

If you look at the places where he broke the string. You’ll see the accuracy of where the ball hits the racquet

Doesn’t matter how successful a tennis player is, the buzz of showing off a broken string never goes away 😂

I think it’s the best one-handed backhand of any player we’ve seen. I say that, because he’s the only player I remember using it, whose backhand couldn’t be broken down

If I understood Roger correctly, the strings he broke were 100% gut in racquet. You would expect a pro to go with hybrid with 50% gut and 50% poly. I play with 100% poly -little top spin- and have never broke a racquet with full poly strings in my life. Strung at 50 lbs tension. Some pros go with much lower tension in a full poly setup ie Jack Sock and french bald guy - forget his name. I know some young dudes who play with full poly and string racquets close to 60 lbs for greater control but they are going to kill their shoulder in time. 🎾

I can't see what would make even a pro swap a racquet for another same one. Restring them, of course, put new grips, of course, but get rid of it, why??? 50-60 per year means that every week he takes a new racquet....

I remember when I was a junior and when I started hitting harder and breaking 16 g syn gut strings every 3 weeks to a month, it made me feel proud because I was playing against HS kids when I was still in middle school. They would brag thinking they were hard hitters. In reality they were super inconsistent while I started out with consistency and gradually moved up to striking the ball harder. Seeing Roger getting excite to show us his broken strings brings back lots of childhood memories. It’s cool to see the goat still get excited about little stuff like this. The joy on his face

How are you pulling tension on the last string to tie off? Aren't you losing a lot of tension by not hitching the string?

The amount of waste is ridiculous for one player. I get that he's a competitor. Maybe the rules have to change for all. Hardly sustainable or reflective of the movement to sustainability.
