I'm glad you liked this tape. Now I normally don't film firetrucks responding much but I knew that the day I filmed this tape a friend was here with me and he likes this kind of stuff more than I do. What I normally film for my channel is trains. I'm a big train buff and over the years that I've been filming trains I had some cool catches over the years, and I remember back in 2014 I caught the older ladder truck held up by a westbound mixed freighter and I remember the show that it gave off as it passed after the train passed. That tape is on kzbin.info/www/bejne/pavdi4Krq9WYn8k. If you don't like the train part just fast forward to the part where I got a short clip of the rig passing. Now maybe I'll try to do more firetrucks responding or something since you liked this tape so maybe I would. I even remember when I went crazy over firetrucks that I used to love watching those old episodes of EMERGENCY from the 1970s. That show had old firetrucks from Crown and Ward Lafrance mostly, but it was a damn good show. Now lately I watch old westerns with John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, and stuff and when the weather is nice I watch trains. Well, thanks for stopping by and I hope to try to do some more tapes of this kind of stuff, so whenever I do, you can subscribe to my channel and it gives me a new idea to boost subscribers.

@@michaeleckert1825 I'm not the master of train symbols. I'm only good with symbols if I hear them on the scanner if the train crews talk clearly. I remember when 260 used to be the symbol for the roadrailer going eastbound because the westbound one was 261 and that used to be one of my favorites to look out for. I do miss those roadrailers because I liked when the wheels were under the trailers and it looked like the train was hovering over the rails. Those were nice trains and I hope they would make a comeback like old steamers. Steam locomotives are magnificent machines and they can put on a really cool show with the whistle, the chuffing along the tracks and hoping for some wheel slip. That's what makes steam locomotives wonderful machines.

Why'd they take the bearing covers off? I'd guess it was for defect detectors, but some of those cars in the train had covered bearing caps.
@ns4270railfan2 ай бұрын
That's a good question. I know most of Andy's coaches have the old school journal boxes with plain bearings but I've notice that he did keep that style, but used some kind of conversion to roller bearings. Seeing older coaches and rolling stock with the old journal boxes with plain bearings on the rails is so rare these days. Now if you want to see vintage or antique rolling stock or coaches with journal boxes is at a museum. I know with Andy Muller with his railroad he tries to keep it as authentic as possible but with some things he has to keep up to code like the braking system and other things, but it's always cool to see older coaches and rolling stock still in use and on the rails than in a museum. Thanks for stopping by with your comment and hope to find more interesting tapes to watch on this channel.

I even recall there was a lot of high hoods with NS as well, but there's about 50 GP38-2s and 10 SD40-2 high hoods, but at one time NS had GP38ACs & GP50s for example that were high hoods. They were nice units NS had a GP38AC number 2857 at one time and they should of made a special tribute to Rosa Parks with that one because the bus she rode and refused to give up her seat had that same number! So, if NS saved that unit and made a special paint scheme for Rosa Parks, that would attract more train lovers and other history buffs and stuff. Oh well, anyway thanks for your comment. :)

Not that I'm aware of, but a friend of mine who was here with me said that they had to detour on Norfolk Southern for a bit. I forgot why but it was interesting to see a caboose on the end of the train. You don't get to see that everyday in this time period. Just wish that caboose had a cupola on top. The cupola is for the crew to sit up to watch their train and passing trains for any signs of a hotbox. Hotboxes relate to overheating journal boxes on older rolling stock with plain bearings. These days rolling stock has roller bearings that have the same concept to journal boxes but don't need as much frequent greasing. Roller bearings need lubricant as well, but to grease those there's not a lid like the journal box has, so I'm not sure how a roller bearing is greased. So that's the main job for the cupola of the caboose and not all cabooses have a cupola like the one on this train.
