I just replaced a 10 year alarm (that is, the battery had a life of 10 years)...it was intermittently beeping 2 years before its 10 year expiry date.Their life can be shortened by exposure to moisture. Some fire alarms are the ones where you replace the batteries every year, but they also have an expiry date because the sensor only lasts so long and then you replace the unit.

Yeah I get it. Awhile back I'm hanging with these people regularly and I had studied to "be up for anything" with this nationality. And, it worked. There was no shimmy shammy. You want to go bowling? Yeah. Let's go to this end of town. OK. It's like the middle man was cut out. In American culture there's all the himming and hawing as everybody figures out who the alpha is who is going to decide for everyone. It was refreshing to just do it. Without a big discussion.

Good memories. Now that's meaningful. There's going to be more to come. Got to keep making more great memories like this. Avoid all that second order observation. Don't let something take away from our own subjective experience. So many different roads to go down. What a wild ride. Exciting and overwhelming.

What a blast to go to Ireland! I'm the same way, I'll go with the flow of the crowd too. It's fun to be included with a group that had a tradition with last calls at bars, lol... I like the story of the slower rider in your bike group, it reminds me of the bird of Hermes. Dee and I have done overnight hikes where we had to call it, it was a hike to a lake called cream lake. The name suited the beauty apparently... Sounds beautiful! We both decided the trail was sketchy, icy and snowy... A good call to turn around, none the less! we had an awesome time 🙂

G'day Earl, I've never been to Ireland, I hear it's VERY Green, and rains a lot... I did once work with a Registered Nurse from Ireland, Fresh off the 'Plane kinda thing..; Her name was Gronya...(!). I've probably spelled that wrong, But in 1982 it was the Weirdest name for a beautiful young woman I'd ever encountered... Any time I think of Ireland, I think of the place where Gronya came from... She exuded an air, or aura, of Olde fashioned straight-laced Prim & proper conventionality & Respectability...; I was, back then in my "Great Australian Root-Rat" phase..., but Gronya was the kind of lass which even I knew better than to try flirting with, unless planning to court and marry her afterwards...(!). I wonder if Ireland still produces, and exports, such beautiful young women...? I hope so (!). Such is life, Have a good one... Stay safe. ;-p Ciao !

G'day Earl, Happy Birthday ! Congratulations, on yet another Trip around the Sun...; every year they appear To go by ever faster... Probably because as Toddlers, at 2 years old then one year is Half a lifetime. Whereas now, a year is but 1.8% of the time you've been alive...(!). I'm 62, so it's only 1.6% for me... And I've been feeling like a Zombie for the past 18 months - which is 2.4% of my lifetime ; since I being alive involved feeling normal..., or enjoying eating...(!). I bought that road registered electric Motocross Bike, btw ; and the Solar System to charge it is in the pipeline & I've got 47 minutes logged on the eChainsaw, 1 hr : 27 min on the eBrushcutter, the eLeafblower has yet to arrive - and my existing Solar Electric Pyramid is already able to recharge about an hour's operation on either, per sunny day, as well as running my Lights & Phone-Chargers. And the Drought might be getting worse, but on the one hand my son is now the local Group Officer who gets called in to be helicoptered off for an hr & a half to survey the Fireground on Friday evening - before being Divisional Commander with 5 RAFT Teams, a dozen Firetrucks, 3 Helitacks & a "Twin-engined 4-bladed Huey" mounting a $2 million Camera with Infra-Red overlay on Night Vision Telephoto, which can generate a Road-Grid over the Image displayed to this Hillbilly's offspring..., as all the City-based Commanders ask him to fix their latest out of control Burn... On the other hand, I threw another $14,000 at my Fireplan...; it's grown from $250 in 1998, which was enough till 2018, when I spent $10,000 in a year..., It took $1,000 to rectify Frost Damage in 2020 and 2022, So now I've invested $25,000 in Firehouses & technology to allow me to deploy 280 litres per Minute, for 4 hours, to put 1 inch onto 1/2 an Acre ; with Equipment & Water already insitu (!). But in the Gripping Hand, Global Warming is WINNING. And the rest of the 8 Billion are behaving More Psychopathologically, Every day which goes by... I dunno about you, But I think Mad Max & M.M.-2 Were pretty outstandingly accurate Sociological forecasts and Trend-extrapolations... Because I'm definitely living in the Mad Max Quiet, before the Storm. Or Firestorm.... Or Sudden Sea-Level Rise.... Even if the Worriers are somehow Restrained from Declaring that a (sacred) State of Waaauuhhhh(!) Exists, which duly (Duty Foolie) Requires them all to nuke their most FRIGHTENING personal paranoid Enemy-Fantasies (any me..., Any Me..., ANY ME...?) Y'see... All For the sake of their National Honour, and In order to try to make themSELVES FEEL Better, about their own Inherited Hopeless Predicament, heading into a very Bleak Future indeed. Fossil-burning Industrial Capitalists, Workers, and Consumers Appear to be About to receive Our Comeuppance. Big bloody time, too (!). Such is life, Have a good one... Stay safe. ;-p Ciao !

I first discovered your videos sometime around 2011. I was about 18 or 19 at the time and just really enjoyed listening to you talk. You have a tranquil, pragmatic way of rationalizing and processing your emotions and the things going on in your life. Your talks are so concise, and filled with so much substance and practicality. I confess I don’t follow your videos regularly, but every few years I will remember you and seek out your KZbin channel, and I’m always so happy to see that you still upload and that you’re still well. I don’t know, I guess I relate to you a lot and just find some sort of comfort in listening to you talk. After over a decade , coming back to your channel every few years really feels like coming back and catching up with an old friend. For whatever reason I just felt compelled to write this. Anyway, Earl, so glad to see you doing well even after going through some rough times. I wish you all the continued happiness and success in the world. Cheers, my friend.

The bird of Hermes isn't related to the Greek god Hermes at all. The bird of Hermes is a reference to the Ripley scroll in which Hermes references an alchemist and uses the bird as an alchemical symbol for the philosopher stones vapors. ( honestly just look up the Ripley scroll instead of reading this comment it's super interesting ) but yeah there's a whole poem before the refrence to the bird of hermes eating its own wings is mentioned.

@@bikemessenger7 yes, that's the poem in full. On the scroll itself the poem is right above a depiction of the stone. Though again check out pictures of the original scroll it's super interesting.

Hey E! I'd love to work towards having an indomitable spirit too, doing things that scare us and build good character. I like the idea to strive to be self reliant as well, owning property would be a level up for me. Your delta vids are great fun to rewatch! Sup M! Indomitable spirit I think its about balancing and embracing the good and bad in life. sometimes avoiding the bad I feel might prevent you from being ready for hard times. Its something I have been thinking about lately. My Delta vids for me are interesting because despite what it might seem like, that I was sharing my life on the internet, I was actually not talking about the actual things that were going on for me. Im re watching those videos now myself and talking outloud about what my life was like at that moment. its really helpful to help figure out who I am and why I am who I am. I am SO glad I filmed myself over the last decade or more. I think the pay off is just now starting to happen. So good to see you my friend.

G'day Earl, Yay Team ! I'm glad you're onto all these things, rather than gritting teeth and swearing everything to be fine. Have you been keeping up with my Videos covering my daughter's Cat, SkittyKitty ? 3 months ago he was diagnosed with terminal Mouth Cancer, and last week was a year since they finished cooking my head so hard the Mouth Cancer died - so we're a good pair (!). As long as he's eating, and drinking, walking, continent, and purring ; then he's announcing his willingness to Keep on Keeping on... I'm buying a Talaria Sting (L1e), Registerable Electric Motorbike, 2.5 Kw/Hr Battery & a 6 Kw Motor - Throttle - limited to 3.5 Kw for 45 Km/Hr...; And 500 Amp/Hours of 24 Volt Storage, with 600 Watts of 24 Volt Panels & Charge Controller/Inverter to recharge the Bike Battery... And that setup will also charge the eChainsaw, eBrushcutter & eLeafblower... And not only but also... For $3,600 extra I can buy an eMotorbike Battery, a spare Motor & Speed-Controller...; with which to Electrify My Second Hairygoplane. Which I have not Yet Commenced to Rebuild .. Since it broke my foot in 1992, When it's Petrol Engine Failed to pull us up Over the Downwind Fence Some halfwit was trying to Levitate Over... It may become a case between Holding $5,000 in reserve to have myself burried with afterwards, Or Blowing that on Flying the First Solar Electric Ultralight Motorglider... And using the Bike's Regenerative Braking, a flightplan involving Electric Takeoff & Climbout to 1,000 or 1,500 ft, stopping the Motor - braking the Propeller to cut Drag & thermalling up to 5,000 or 10,000 ft..., before releasing the Propeller to turn, and diving back to Base - using Regenerative Braking from the Windmilling Propeller to recharge the bloody Flattery...
