Does it recur later?

Great question! From what I’ve learned, it likely depends on the type of plastic. The stickiness usually happens when the top layer starts to disintegrate over time. I’ve cleaned several objects using acetone-free nail polish remover, and so far, only one of them needed another cleaning after about two years.

I just tried this on a coat I've had for years and the zipper suddenly malfunctioned and would not close. The pliers trick worked and the zipper now closes as normal and the slider has that firm, tight feel of a new zipper. Now I can stop shopping for a replacement coat as I like this one. Thank you for the video.🙂

Thanks for your video, do you know if there is a machine that does this as its sometimes hard to slide them on and keep all the paper aligned. Cant find anything in the world that does this
@ArtOfClay7 күн бұрын
Thank you for watching and for your comment! Unfortunately, I haven’t come across a machine or tool specifically designed for this either. I completely understand how frustrating it can be to slide the binding bar over the sheets. I wonder if a custom 3D-printed tool could work-maybe something like a zipper mechanism (triangular piece maybe). It could be inserted first to open the binding bar, allowing the papers to slide in easily, and then removed from the other end. Just an idea! I might try to make one and see if it will work if I find some free time. Just an idea! If I find some free time, I might try making one to see if it works.

is double knitted colour work possible?
@ArtOfClay8 күн бұрын
I’m not sure if I understood your question correctly, but if you are asking about double-bed knitted fabric with one color on the front side and another on the reverse, I’ve seen this done on the Passap machine. From what I remember, both locks need to be set to AX <-, and the pushers on the both beds should be arranged so that when one bed is knitting, the other bed is tucking.

You don’t need to select each colour with the colour changer? It does it automatically? I need to go read my manual again.
@ArtOfClay13 күн бұрын
Yes, the color changer can automatically alternate between two eyelets! The manual will provide more details, but here’s how to set it up: * Press any two black buttons (the ones used to select the eyelets) at the same time. * Pull the metal lever on the right side of the color changer twice. This will make both eyelets above the pressed buttons pop up. * Push the eyelet you want to use first back down, pull the metal lever to the right again (only once), and then push the other eyelet down. Once this is set up, the colors will automatically change whenever the lock is brought to the color changer! Friendly advice: Keep an eye on the color changer until you get used to it. Both eyelets may pop up at the same time and you can damage the color changer if you are moving the lock too fast.

hi me again, do you start out doing the racking cast on of two rows, then go directly into the EX settings?
@ArtOfClay14 күн бұрын
Hi! Yes, that's correct. Start by making a racking cast-on for two rows, then adjust the lock settings to EX, and proceed with knitting the fringe.
@knit192414 күн бұрын
Wow, you are truly a great teacher. You inspire me to try things on the Passap that I would never have attempted. Thank you. One thing, how do I determine how many rows to knit for the width of my scarf? Also, is there a limit to the number of needles out of work? Do I just measure the width of the scarf then measure the fringe, as it is knitting? You mentioned to knit a little more that what is needed, so I guess I can unknit some, if it is too long. The waste yarn makes that possible, am I correct?
@ArtOfClay14 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m thrilled to hear that I’ve inspired you to try new things on the Passap-it really means a lot to me! 😊 To ensure the fringe is the right size, make it visually a bit longer than the scarf’s width. You can put a measuring tape between the beds of the machine to get a rough measurement of the fringe length as you knit. When you’re almost finished sewing the fringe, remove the waste yarn, carefully pull the yarn tail to unravel any excess fringe, and sew off the 4 loops left on that side to prevent further unraveling. Regarding your second question, there’s no limit to the number of needles out of work. You can leave more needles OOW (out of work) to make the fringes longer or follow the settings shown in the manual.

hi my friend, hope you are doing fine. If I wanted to make the neck more of a turtleneck height for extra warmth, about how many more rows should I do? Do you think 75 is a good amount? Thank you for all of your amazing videos
@ArtOfClay17 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos. 😊 For the ribbing on my project, I knitted 50 rows, which measured 11.5 cm in length. If you'd like to make the neck a turtleneck height for extra warmth, 75 rows should work well, depending on the gauge of your yarn. Based on the yarn I used, I think 75 rows (or 74/76 so you can end with the lock on the right side of the knitting) would add about 5-6 cm, making it the perfect length. Let me know how it turns out. I’d love to hear about it! I wear mine all the time.

@@ArtOfClay I will send you pics of the finished project. Thank you so much for helping me with this. I wish the beds could be brought down further apart. It is so tight to work with, when you have to pick up a dropped stitch. I also have a hard time, when I want to take out a row.
@ArtOfClay16 күн бұрын
You’re very welcome! I’m so excited to see pictures of your finished dickey. 😊 I totally understand what you mean about the beds being so close together. Fixing dropped stitches is definitely a challenge. Also, sometimes it can be impossible to fix them when weights are attached and the dropped stitches run all the way to the bottom row. Wishing you smooth and enjoyable knitting from here on out! 🧶

Hi! your videos are so informative, thank you for doing this work ❤ I want to ask: is it worth it to get a Pinky at this time? my friend is retiring hers, it basically doesn't have any extras like colour changer, no deco etc. I know parts are hard to find and it will be my first Passap. Thanks for your insight
@ArtOfClay18 күн бұрын
Thank you for your kind words! 😊 Regarding your question, it really depends on what you plan to knit with the machine. The Pinky and the DM80 are quite similar in function. The main difference is that the DM80 lock includes the "H" setting on the dial, which allows you to knit a tubular slip stitch - something the Pinky doesn’t have. All other differences are in the machine’s appearance and its extras. The Pinky may have the older style of feeding eyelets, or it might use the same eyelets as the DM80. If it does have the DM80-style eyelets, you could eventually install an automatic color changer in the future. While it’s absolutely possible to do colorwork without a color changer or Deco, it will take more time and effort since those attachments simplify the process. That said, if the Pinky is in good condition, it could still be a wonderful way to start exploring Passap knitting - especially if you’re okay with its limitations or are open to finding accessories secondhand later on.

How much would a seamstres charge for this using a sewing machine?
@ArtOfClay21 күн бұрын
To make this seam using a sewing machine, the lining would need to be partially removed first so the area can be sewn from the inside. After the repair, the lining would then need to be sewn back in place. Unfortunately, I’m not sure how much this would cost, as I only sew for friends and family and haven’t needed to go to a seamstress. I hope someone will see this comment and let us both know what the price might be - I’m curious about that too!

Hi, is there a specific way to put the racking handle in the machine. I can't get it into position so that the handle is in lowest position, and the needles are not hitting each other. I can only get it in on center 0 but the handle is down and the needles are facing each other. this is so odd.
@ArtOfClay28 күн бұрын
I’m sorry that I might not have enough information to fully resolve this. I don’t know exactly how the racking handle should be mounted, but I’m sure that when it is in its lowest position, the needles should not be opposing each other. Regarding the markings on the left side of the bed, they seem to vary depending on the model - or at least, that’s what I’ve gathered from some comments I’ve seen.
