I watched a movie last night, it's an Australian film about a woman whose younger Brother is an addict and has extremely violent outbursts, she has tried everything but has to resort to extreme measures to get him clean. It was absolutely intense and I was emotional the whole time (I lost my Big Brother in 2020 so all these types of movies about siblings get to me), I was literally glued to the TV screen the whole time. It's called 'He Ain't Heavy'. I know it's on Australian Netflix, it might be on American and other versions, hopefully. Very interesting and insightful into addiction. It doesn't say exactly what drug he is on, I'm guessing it's Ice or Crystal as his behaviour exhibits it but it's definitely worth a watch. 6 Balloons on Netflix is another really interesting one, very insightful into the ugly world of drug addiction, Brother addicted to H and the sister feels like she is drowning. It's an American film with Dave Franco (is he related to James Franco?) who definitely did a fantastic job, highly recommended. And another really good film is Candy with Heath Ledger, an amazing film which I also recommend about addiction (H addiction). I love Blow, Train Spotting, Human Traffic (it's about people on E and go out for the night), Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Spun (a bit intense but interesting) etc, there are so many interesting ones.

Christiane F. Is one of the best movies when it comes to accurately portraying the downward spiral of heroin addiction. Requiem For a Dream on the other hand may not be quite as accurate but it’s definitely a better movie, in fact it’s one of my favourite movies of all time. I would recommend both.

I was addicted to H for over 12+ years. I was homeless, living on the streets, sleeping in the woods and where ever I could. Eating out of barrels if I ate at all. Doing things to survive that I never could have imagined doing. I just hit my 6th yr of sobriety this past January ‘24. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of those out there still sick and struggling. It can be done. Never judge an addict. We are real people with real feelings.
