It was interesting for me, then more you polite and emotional with chat GTP, then more it’s lazy, it was my biggest mistake from beginning. When you treat it strictly as a machine, as a mechanism, as an electricity for example then it works better. Sometimes it gives a good ideas, but mostly it has some sort of AI style. I can feel it, I it’s kinda immunity from AI content. And this style are recognisable, repetitive. What make sense to use it if searching engine can recognise it too. It’s still imperfect in many ways. AI images? The folk already tired of them. I use it a lot, but still disappointed. It cannot replace me.

Although the idea has been spun up to suit the new "AI" craze, it doesn't have to require AGI or even LLMs. "Bots" have been around for a long time. Add search manipulation via $ and it has long buried content created by individuals without billions of dollars to blow on bumping its visibility. Who needs net neutrality revoked when you can just buy Adwords?!

I don't doubt that it influences women. But time and time again we have seen that interestests and sex are highly correlated. Generally speaking women are more interested in people and men in things. This hypothesis of the Scully effect would also contradict what we see in third world countries where no such role models exist. My mom is from Brazil and they are pretty traditional. Yet we have very high numbers of women in engineering because it pays very well. Just like with other developing and third world countries it's more important to make money than to follow what interests you. What are your thoughts on that?

Consciousness cannot be fully understood using the principles of general relativity, as it is more related to emergence. I believe that applying the principles of quantum mechanics might provide greater insights. There is evidence of quantum effects in biological systems, such as enzyme catalysis and photosynthesis, which suggests that quantum mechanics may influence biological processes. Consciousness is considered an emergent property, and there are theories suggesting that even cells may exhibit basic forms of awareness.

Fascinating. How do you keep up with yourself? I too have many sides of myself and interests that require different platforms. It's hard to know how much time to put into each project. I just discovered some of your work today when discussing epistemic humility. I'm currently in Utah. I work in AI, and I am finally reading Crime and Punishment. I am at work on a novella. I currently have 2 blogs, 3 X channels, and am going to be starting a podcast soon (addiction recovery).

The system has to crash. Do you believe in mathematics? I'm not talking Terence Howard math. If you believe math to be the one constant in the perceived reality of humanity, then the current circumstances cannot be changed by voting. If you multiply a positive and a negative, what do you always get? You can multiply 1 trillion by negative 2 and what do you get? You just turned your positive trillion into negative 2 trillion. My point is this ...there is no lesser of two evils. Evil is evil. Corruption is like cancer and we are basically terminal right now. Jefferson said this form of government needed revolution every 20 years to persist. Franklin said they'd given the country a republic if they could keep it. That's gone. Nobody represents the people in DC. We can't even figure out how to use a bathroom. The people are stupid. There's nothing more dangerous than a stupid person. When I find myself in rooms where these topics arise, I sit back and watch. Typically, there are one or two people on a similar trajectory.stupid people will not go of their stupid ideas. We shouldn't be involved in war. There is enough for everybody to have all of their wants and needs. Homelessness, hunger, disease, crime, mental illness, and greed should have no place in our world. We are not anymore advanced than we were in the dark ages. In fact, we are probably more similar to a feudal system than a republic. We also never were a democracy. Democracy is probably one the most idiotic concepts known to man. I know a handful of people who I would consider worthy of voting and all of them understand it's an exercise in futility. We don't need this bloated pig of a government. What's government ever don't make life better? Not a single thing. You do come at this with rationale and noble intentions. You're close and you are the people we need to steer these conversations. You are going to get there soon.

It's becoming clear that with all the brain and consciousness theories out there, the proof will be in the pudding. By this I mean, can any particular theory be used to create a human adult level conscious machine. My bet is on the late Gerald Edelman's Extended Theory of Neuronal Group Selection. The lead group in robotics based on this theory is the Neurorobotics Lab at UC at Irvine. Dr. Edelman distinguished between primary consciousness, which came first in evolution, and that humans share with other conscious animals, and higher order consciousness, which came to only humans with the acquisition of language. A machine with only primary consciousness will probably have to come first. What I find special about the TNGS is the Darwin series of automata created at the Neurosciences Institute by Dr. Edelman and his colleagues in the 1990's and 2000's. These machines perform in the real world, not in a restricted simulated world, and display convincing physical behavior indicative of higher psychological functions necessary for consciousness, such as perceptual categorization, memory, and learning. They are based on realistic models of the parts of the biological brain that the theory claims subserve these functions. The extended TNGS allows for the emergence of consciousness based only on further evolutionary development of the brain areas responsible for these functions, in a parsimonious way. No other research I've encountered is anywhere near as convincing. I post because on almost every video and article about the brain and consciousness that I encounter, the attitude seems to be that we still know next to nothing about how the brain and consciousness work; that there's lots of data but no unifying theory. I believe the extended TNGS is that theory. My motivation is to keep that theory in front of the public. And obviously, I consider it the route to a truly conscious machine, primary and higher-order. My advice to people who want to create a conscious machine is to seriously ground themselves in the extended TNGS and the Darwin automata first, and proceed from there, by applying to Jeff Krichmar's lab at UC Irvine, possibly. Dr. Edelman's roadmap to a conscious machine is at arxiv.org/abs/2105.10461

Society is polarized, because people are convinced, rightly or not, but they are convinced, that this trial, like all the others, especially the ones coming from deep blue new york, are a political hitjob on one's political enemies. It's perhaps designed to convince those, who, like you, who will follow this trial looking for any justification whatsoever, to at least make it look more legitimate, than it is, while at the same time, completely ignoring the equally as damaging trials agains biden's son. I know this is emotional. It's emotional for both sides, hence the polarization of society. So pls just take this as a considered opinion, and avoid the violetnst.

Equality is hardest. So is to understand & believe that there’s no one rule for all that suits our needs the best. The animal world is more equal rather than us humans. The art of effervescent living is what we could seek for. The art of free flowing like the river & finding our own shape as and where needed. I wish.

I actually went down a little rabbit hole before publishing this OSN because of that exact same thing! I wondered if it might be a typo. Not a lot of info out there on it, but the papers I could find mentioning the term indicate it's a variation of fentanyl, as you also discovered :)
