I'm curious about the total investment cost minus the land. I have 1 acre of land that Im thinking about growing lavender. Is the heavy equipment own or least from someone else?

I work in the factory on the 8R line. It’s interesting to watch how it’s done when you don’t have a massive hoist with suction cups to move it.

that's interesting, they are heavier than they look!

Can that telehandler load a 7 high on truck pretty easily? Or does it seem stressed? That’s a pretty big clamp for that machine

Hi! How you manage the degradation of the soil? Im working with a feedlot in my country and as time passes the barnyard or corral becomes uneven .
@tomdownsfarms Жыл бұрын
we haul in dirt as needed to build them back up, we also have a hill in the middle of each corall for winter time we put straw on for bedding.

Pretty sure this unit is an automatic… not like an old school (1069) two-tie manual where you have to manually slam levers… the entire process on this baby is automated, just have to have good pace so you don’t crowd the first table. Very nice machine!
@tomdownsfarms Жыл бұрын
Yes, auto trans and auto tie tiers etc. I’ve stacked with a little 1068 before so I know the whole manual deal, as a kid I’d forget what tier I was on and sometime the tie would be one early or one late🤷

Curious how you control your weeds?
@tomdownsfarms Жыл бұрын
It is an organic field so we would cultivate until we couldn’t get down the rows anymore with the cultivator, then after that we would walk through and hand weed the bigger stuff. Usually about a month before harvest was the last weeding

Pretty nice condition for a 41 year old working truck. I drove one just like only back then it was new.... The Big Cam II and 13 is a big improvement over the 8V92 and 9 speed.

Those haul trucks are awesome. I ran them for years. You can actually dump 2 loads side by side then use them as a ramp to drive up on top of the pile. And if you flip the back over, just pull it back on its wheels and keep going. They are so handy.
