I appreciate your side note at the end in taking your friendship into account instead of a simple and cold monetary decision. I also appreciate how you list common mistakes. I took a test for mechanical engineering for the city of San Francisco and that test is similar to the EIT/FE test. I haven't got my results yet but I know I struggled with the engineering economics part. Your videos fill that hole in my education.

lol, ummm 36=33 does not simplify down to 18=15
@noahh6186
@noahh6186 19 күн бұрын
You're missing the V there. It's 36=15V+18, which simplifies to 18=15V, then to 18/15=V

Would'nt the radiator on a car closed? The coolant stays in the car and doesn't leave, the same way a fridge is a closed system. Furthermore any research I do online leads me to the answer of a radiator being a closed system.

where did you get the 1/2 from inside the integral in the second example?!

Late but if you substitute du=2cos(2x)dx back into u*du, the 2 has to be canceled out to get the original starting equation. So we can assume that there is a (1/2) into the integral u*du equation in order to cancel that 2 out.

If there is anyone only checking the answer without listening, it is converting mass fractions to mole fractions.

Hi. This was quite helpful, particularly the part about comparing unequal lives, just like is done for PW. I could have missed that! Thanks. However, my previous understanding was that the alternative with the higher FW is usually selected. You seem to think otherwise for this particular example. My guess is that you would still select the one with the higher FW if the initial investments are reasonably close, right?

This is tricky. A radiator, when combined with the engine is a closed system. The coolant circulates between the engine and the radiator without ever exchanging matter (assuming normal operating conditions if the pressure relief valve is not activated). You could say the "refrigerator compressor" were an open system if you separated the one component. The problem is further complicated with mass in and out of the refrigerator door if you are looking at the whole refrigerator as the system, as the diagram given does. Is it typical for diagrams like this to be given with the problem or is that an explanatory addition on your part?

Good video, but this is a problem that realistically only takes 10 seconds. Just look at Mg being +2, then each H atom has to be -1 to balance it.

another trap I fell into is that I considered Simple Interest to solve this problem. The interest in this problem is the Compound Interest.

In deciding which is better alternative, is the cost that you're talking about, is it in the overall cost of each alternative or the first cost of each alternative?

*This is what I did:* *-$45,000(F/P,12%,6) -$12,000(F/A,12%,6) +$10000* *Using the compound interest table we get answer as -$176,210.* *So this means the project is not feasible as its giving a loss.*

Very confused re: the column heading switch at 10:58. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the negative z should have been used to look up the R(z) value, and then just subtract that from the F(z) value that you got from the positive z. This solution was overcomplicated. Too much filler commentary.

Some pls help solve this A company is proposing a new equipment at 36,000. And he feels he will reduce labour and attract high price for his products at 6,800 per year over a period of 8 years. At the end of the 8 years the salvage for the equipment is 3,000. If the opportunity cost is 10%, calculate the benefit cost ratio
