I won't lie, and I am a little in wonder when I watch this again. Part of me thinks it would be great to see these two again in this capacity of a movie. what has happened with their lives, where did they go, what did they do and how have they been going through life. But then the other part of me always comes to the conclusion: The ending is PERFECT

I've always loved the ending to that movie. That swelling of music as he walks up the stairs really works for me.

If you listen to the Director's commentary for this scene, Ralf was really happy with himself that he was able to do the scene and get a laugh.

I remember years ago when I first saw this movie. I KNEW that it was going to be pure dynamite when I saw De Niro walking down the stairs and the music!!! I had never heard of the movie before but it was in a bin at some store most likely a DVD for 5.99 and decided to purchase it. I really lucked out!
Seeing two great actors together is amazing Jean Reno y Robert De Niro

You really gotta love that Big Guy sense of humor coming from Hagen. Apart from Maximus who is the obvious hero of the story, Hagen shines through in his own way by being both badass and freaking funny.

a black cobra is no longer important - it is a sign of revelling. This means there is no energy left for a rebellion. Look for me another matter on social media when I am away from these trivial mundane things and people...

I really liked this ending! It was pitch perfect for the story they were telling. Sometimes feedback from test audiences yields good results, that was certainly the case here. Deirdre was a character that was involved with very dangerous people, and I definitely think she realized she was in over her head by the end of the film. There are hints, such as when she and Sam are under cover at the hotel, she's good at what she does, but lacks Sam's experience. Still, to have Deirdre go back to that cafe at the end would've been too naive for the character. It's better this way, and it's a nice moment for Sam's character, who has to make peace with the fact that she's not coming back.
