Install the door in 1990 but my mom never used this. It was in the dining room. I used it a lot when I started living there in 2010 and the handle kept falling off It’s always been a real pain Now I can’t even get it open While buying a new actuator to fix this problem, I hope ? Anyone have a clue where the label is they’re going to need to see which lock? It’s 20° out these days.

My moms French door sags and gets tough to open and close. I have raised it using the third adjustment technique in the video but it always eventually slips back to getting tough to open/close. She uses this door a lot to let the dog out and after a month or two it starts giving her trouble again. Why does the door go back to being trouble?

Just swapped mine out- I used WD-40 "all along" the slider pin strip. Let it sit, worked it up and down a few times-and the pins slid down into place allowing the insert to shift into its place. May God Bless WD-40 🏍💨

Decent video. But where are the FULL instructions for the Emco closer that comes with the Andersen doors?! Nothing in the box except a part list, nothing online except same part list. What if it’s not a replacement and is a new install? Very disappointed with this whole fiasco!

These clips functioned well on about 20% of the Andersen 100 Series windows I installed around my house. The rest either didn't work or they promptly shot off into god knows where. I find it incredibly aggravating that Andersen then charges 6 dollars EACH plus shipping(!!) for these cheaply made and barely functional clips. So for the windows in my house, I'd be out 50$ a year or so for all the ones that go permanently missing. Fucking absurd. Awful product honestly.

This is the worst design I have ever seen in a snap in grill. They do not lock in securely and my customer has had us come back several times over this issue. Once installed there is no way the homeowner would be able to remove them and reinstall them for cleaning. Anderson continues to go down in quality every year. Most over rated window currently out there. Keep up the great work!

So you would just take the handle off - replace the cylinder and put the door handle back on
@donsmith4170Ай бұрын
what you forget to say and do is to level the door after you install it, before you install the screws on each side. Once you screw the door in and release the orange brackets your screwed if the door isn't level. I think the orange braccket on the bottom of the door should come off before you install it that way the side brackets arfe both touching the floor plate.

Love the door, fairly easy to install. BUT! The step of inserting a Phillips into the adjust slot is done by your Tech with no door in the way. I had less than 5" inches between my door and the adjustment slot. Using a mirror and a stubby Phillips I was eventually able to do what the Tech did. Either I over complicated it, or you should put this step earlier in the mounting process since we don't have open frames to work with like this demo. Otherwise, everything went amazingly smooth and my wife loves the screen door. Thanks

I had a problem with one of my windows skipping when I tried to open it. Didn’t want to pay someone so went a year without fixing it. Had someone coming for the roof so figured I’d get the parts and have him do it. No need!! I just replaced both sides myself and it works so much smoother. This was even easier than the video makes it look! Hardest part was wiggling the trim up without breaking it.

This window is so poorly designed, I hate it! The jambs are very difficult to remove without damaging them and rain leaks inside them from the top. The sill allows rain to flow under the side jambs to the wood below and adjacent. The glazing isnt rainproof so wood rails and stiles get wet and rots. The cords break easily or the platic end pops off, requiring replacement of the entire balance. They are under so much tension and are impossible to grasp without a plier, and even with the plier its an ordeal that sometimes ends in breaking/requiring replacement. The weatherstripping is filled with open cell foam that soaks up rainwater, acting as a sponge next to the wood making them soggy and rotted from the inside. Andersen should send us these replacement parts for free, their design is so defective. All my windows are rotting! One is completely hollow inside, im going to fill it with caulk and cross my fingers. I will never buy Andersen windows.

I was going to upgrade my Narroline windows. Price was $650 each to convert them to Series 400 windows. Rather than do that, I just bought new Series 400 windows for $425 each. Conversion kits are $200 more that the entire replacement window which is the exact same size as the Narroline and can be installed in about 2 hours. It's actually cheaper to buy a complete series 400 window, take it apart, use the parts in the Narroline frame and throw the new frame away. Shame on you Andersen.

So, you’re buying new windows for the sashes, latch, and pull? Will you replace the balances and the plastics guides? And they will still not tilt.
@barbnelson9386Ай бұрын
@@samadamms3432What? I’m planning to upgrade some of my narrowline windows w conversion kit. I have already replaced balances on a couple windows. Are you saying that buying the complete window would not provide the needed parts to enable tilt function?
@samadamms3432Ай бұрын
@@barbnelson9386 - I was commenting on njphil, buying new regular Narroline windows for the sashes and hardware, and tossing out the frames. Apparently, he either doesn't need, or want, the tilt function, so he feels that will be cost saving. However, if you want to convert your Narrowlines to tilt function, you will have to buy the conversion kit. This is what I plan to do, since a couple of my sashes have broken seals, and are clouded up.

I have 12 of these style windows that were installed in the mid 80's. None of them have this piece in the upper sash bottom. They just have the check rail that's underneath where the weather strip goes. Odd
