That's great news for Fiji. The A350 is much better than this A330 setup. I believe they got another A350 not that long ago, which might be why they can do this now.

A330 was a treat for coast to coast, but it really comes into its own on a longer trip like to USA. Apparently Qatar has one of these old VA planes, so there's still an opportunity to fly it 😂

Fantastic video, and thank you for sharing. Overall, this product looks highly outdated. Outside of the spaciousness of your seat, the food looked arguably inedible and incomparable to even American Airlines international business class, which is also nothing to write home about, save for what looked like decent food offerings in the lounge. I'd rather fly Emirates through Dubai and onto Sydney. Even if Emirates disappoints, I'd rather be able to shower it off mid-flight. Thank you again for this informative post! I'll book my travel next month to Sydney not on Qantas.
@LeisureFlyer
@LeisureFlyer 12 күн бұрын
Thank you for watching! Indeed, the seat is quite old and has only had a refresh with new materials. But I'd have to disagree with the food aspect. I flew AA out from LAX to SYD and the food was absolutely horrendous compared to QF out of SYD. But in general, catering out of LAX has never been amazing I've found. That being said, I don't think the QF First food is any better than the Business offering (as my mate got the same meal on a flight to DFW). EK is definitely a level above, but it's quite a scenic route to get from USA to Aus via the middle east 😂 Then again, in First.. who cares right? Let me know how you go :)

A very informative review... the lights you see in the ocean are ships... those waters are pretty busy channels for ships as this region is the only thoroughfare from the West to East. If the flight was during the day you can clearly see the elongated shape of the ships from the window. Once the aircraft passes over Bali to continue further south you will see very few of these lights.

Absolutely! It makes sense not to have IFE but you're right, a cheap tablet with some pre-loaded content would also be a premium touch. To be honest, I'd still take extra free drinks over IFE though.

Good thing use a swapped out 777-200 to a 787-8. It did previously fly a Boeing 777-200 or 777-200er. But the 777-200 and 777-300 were already retired same time as the Boeing 747-400. The 777-200er and 777-300er still remain in service because they still got some life left in them.

For Sydney Thai Airways normally fly the 777-300er and then change to an A350-900 from the 1st of April this year. But the A350 was the best because they are newer aircraft. There was some article in 2018 that Thai Airways wants to retrofit it’s Boeing 777-200er and also have premium economy on that aircraft. But that didn’t happen and I don’t know when will it actually happen or not. But I would like to see they retrofit it more because they still got a few years left before retirement. Also if it’s already been done this would been better. I also agree with you the 787 seats are better and newer.
@LeisureFlyer
@LeisureFlyer 2 ай бұрын
Interesting, I wonder what the benefit of retrofitting the 200ER would be? Given they only seem to do short/medium routes now.. you would think that PE would be more beneficial on longer haul fleet.

For first class meals, I must say they looks displeasing and pathetic. The bathroom looks ordinary, nothing luxurious about it. For $10K+ one way is not worth the money. I don't see how Qantas can compete with the like of Etihad, Emirates, Qatar, Singapore, etc...
@LeisureFlyer
@LeisureFlyer 3 ай бұрын
I agree it's not the same level, but realistically they don't need to compete with the ME3 as the route network is different. With AA discontinuing Flagship First, there is no other option for First to USA. Even within Asia it's only SIN and sometimes HKG that get the QF A380, and to Europe it's only LHR I believe. That being said... I am keen to see how the new A350 First Class goes once it launches.

100% agree with your assessment. I recently flew Business Class from Melbourne to LAX and there were no welcome snacks, dinner was barely entree size and I wasn't offered anything else for the entire flight. I had to make my own bed with no offer of help and had to wait 5-6 minutes for an attendant to come when I pushed the button. I asked for a bottle of water and she said all she could offer was to refill my original bottle. It's only a small thing but there was also no mood lighting. I flew Business with Virgin a few years back and they were far superior to Qantas. They really went out of their way to make you feel special. Qantas are now inferior to pretty much every other airline which is a shame for our national carrier.....
