I’m so glad that you shared your experience, I definitely needed it. I have very strong imposter syndrome, but I’m trying everyday to stay motivated. I’m currently doing the Google UX design certificate as well, and it’s great. Looking forward to the potential of landing my first job in UX design.

My experience is actually very similar to yours - I graduated with an econ and psych degree but jumped between jobs and didn't know what I wanted to do with my life.. i'm now 24, I'm an admin coordinator, a new mom, and teaching myself ui/ux design. Wish me good luck

I’m considering this career path however I’m hesitant because people all over KZbin are saying ux design is oversaturated and hard to break into entry level . I really want to beak onto IT and this fits more with my personality then the other IT roles . What are your thoughts for someone becoming a ux designer in 2023

if you’re going to do it, do it right. “Don’t get yourself down if you don’t have a design degree” is questionable advice. “Bootcamp UXers” are the first to get fired. Qualifications still matter.

Hi Kerah, can i ask to see your portfolio and resume. I too did a coding bootcamp and unfortunately i hadnt gotten any interviews. I am doing the coursera ux cert and im loving it and like you, have been learning non stop. Im hoping to land a job once i finish this. I love East Asian makeup and anime, even more than that watching black women getting their hair and makeup done there. He did a wonderful job. To your question about his technique, yes this is textbook Asian makeup. They first start from the center of the face then work their way out, always working with a small amount of product at a time. As a culture, they prefer a much more dewy look than the west cake face. He first used crème products to lay the foundation, highlight, and contour, after setting all that with an assortment of powders. The eyes are classic Asian as well…Very natural using natural, flesh tone colors with a pop of highlight. They prefer natural lashes or a few individuals. He also used an Asian makeup technique to make the eyes look bigger and more lively. They admire the big eyes of the west & Africans. You were unnecessarily concerned about the amount of time he spent on your under eye,lol!!! That’s common the world over. Creasing is normal what they are doing is brightening and evening the skin tone. He did an amazing job and you looked beautiful. That other makeup artist…the one for your birthday, totally screwed you btw…I would have been so upset🤯🤬🤯 then not feeling comfortable or confident is a problem.

Hi :) Not that I support those kinds of things, but you can find it for free on KZbin. However, if you want to have a Google UX Certificate, you can take it on Coursera. It's a great course, probably one of the best, and the certificate is actually valuable because the tests and exams can be difficult for a beginner. Hope that helps :)

Omg I also did a software engineering boot camp and I always felt like I was the only one who felt like it wasn't beginner friendly. I definitely regret it and wish I knew about UX design before hand. I recently discovered and have been trying to learn about it before putting money into it. Thank you for sharing your story. It's nice to relate to someone.

Figma for 90%. It would help if you know photo shop / illustrator. But once you learn any 1 of these, you will have a good understanding of all of them.

Thanks for the tip on using the word people and diverse emojis. Wish we got to see your Figma to web conversion process. True, a website is Def better than a file for a portfolio, especially so that ppl don't have to download and it's more accessible.

To be honest, you don't need Figma at all for UX. Figma is mostly a UI tool, not UX (maybe for wireframing). However, if you are a junior, of course, with today's market, they would expect you to have some UI skills, and in that case, yes, Figma is the best choice - Figma + UI skills.
