Another question, why the epicenter? Shouldn’t the dsp/amp be able to provide all the bass control you need?
@bigcityoffroad3372Ай бұрын
Epicenter “adds” a signal that doesnt actually exist in the original recording. The simple way to say it(which isnt completely accurate) is, its puts bass into songs that dont have any. Dsp can control whats already there, epicenter uses magic to make bass.
@papapeppa6198Ай бұрын
Sorry, but I missed what you did for an alternator?
@bigcityoffroad3372Ай бұрын
Alternator is stock, somehow it charges fully through all of this. I do have a 220a alt on the shelf to install.
@papapeppa6198Ай бұрын
Ok, this is crazy. The stock unit is 70amps or something like that I can’t remember. But let’s say it’s 100amps. Even at that you have 3 amplifiers drawing like 200amps minimum. How is your voltage not dropping like crazy when this hits? I bet if you add a large bank of capacitors it would really wake up the bass. Have you check your voltage?
@bigcityoffroad3372Ай бұрын
@@papapeppa6198 to be honest, i was blown away too. Cruising down the road it charges about 14.2-14.4v. Thats with a calibrated volt meter and multiple redundant meters. If im jamming hard will bring it down to 13.8v on a bassy song. Sitting idle, itll drop a bit to 12.8ish but only with the bass. The current required to turn on the amps should be enough to weigh it down, but it seems to handle driving at full volume with no issues. I do plan on swapping the 1500w sub amp for a 2500w unit, thatll change things for sure. At 14.4v and 3000w it should eat about 210 amps of current at full tilt. The truck does have 2 batteries, so thats helping…
@papapeppa6198Ай бұрын
@@bigcityoffroad3372 it must be the second battery acting as a capacitor in some way. This is great. I am going to probably do a dual setup then. I have an issue with my current alpine 5 channel clipping out and I thought it was a voltage problem.
@andrewlewis5251Ай бұрын
@@papapeppa6198 I have 5kw of audio in my Toyota with the 2UZ's stock 100a denso. The electrical is +1100 CCA group 31 size ultra capacitor under the hood and 80ah of LiFePo4 lithium in the cab. For your sub amp to draw its max current you would have to be sitting there blasting a non stop tone. In reality its normal use its just pulling short bursts of current. These short bursts can be more than the 100a the alt is supplying because the battery is supplying the rest. But even in my case normal operation is just not enough to overtake the 100a of charging. One weird way to think about it is your system is only pulling the current like a wood pecker, but the alternator is supplying the current like a water hose.

What width painters tape did you use when cutting off the factory rocker panel? I really like the idea of the 2x6 slider vs the rest on the market. How sturdy are the sliders in this configuration?
@bigcityoffroad33725 ай бұрын
I have so much ground clearance that i doubt ill ever stick them on a rock. Id imagine theyre less strong than a frame mounted setup, but there is a ton of sheet metal and the 3 pillars tied in, so itll spread the load nicely.. tape was 1”

As someone who does this everyday for a living, I have a lot of respect for you pulling this complicated of a paint job off on such a large vehicle in those conditions. The amount of time even prepping the paint area was impressive. Stellar effort. It would have been stupendous to add some green kandy into the clear.

Thanks, i appreciate that. I did have dark green candy on hand, I thought it might too many variables to add to the mix given the timeline and basic paint skills. This is the fisrt time ive ever painted a car, aside from a bit of primer many years ago. I was never going to body work the truck, but i wanted the paint to stick, its all in the prep, you know..
