I feel like I lose some of the feeling in the wheel when I wear gloves. I think it’s because I started out as one of those nerds in their houses and all I had was force feedback to feel the boat lol

I drove an unlimited hydro computer simulator, it is much harder than you would think especially balancing the wing. Do these have skid fins?

Yup! These boats have all of the same major design features as an unlimited. I actually started out playing HydroSim before moving into the real boats.

My friend and I were there at Hydrobowl both days last year. We were set up in the white canopy at the far end of the beach. We made it again this year. Good times all around.

Never got to any of the maritime province races. Been to Valleyfield, Hamilton, Tonawanda, Detroit, Toledo, and Waterford as far as GP sites over the years.

Is Mike Monahan the brother or the son of James "Jim" Monahan, the one who crashed under the Cocagne bridge piloting the Miss Canadian Girl back in August of 1981, as he really does look like him?. i was there along the backstretch, as i saw Jim frantically moving the steering wheel from side to side coming towards the third turn, he totally lost the steering and he went onto the rocks along the shore under the bridge, i saw bits of fiberglass flying in the air upon impact. I ran to the other side and saw him being put on the stretcher, he was conscious and responsive, man that was scary, Jim looked like he was okay though, don't know if he continued racing after that?. Man that moment of seeing him frantically sawing at the steering wheel but to no avail is so etched into my memory as if it was only yesterday, I was only 7 years old back then but it was such a dramatic scene that i won't soon forget, Jim was totally along for the ride, and was hoping that he wasn't going to hit that pillar directly, thankfully he didn't. I've heard rumors about the series coming back to Cocagne, is that true?, that would really be awesome if they did.

Yes, Mike is Jim’s son! I’ve heard that story before, fun to read it again. I can’t comment on whether or not any races are going back to Cocagne. I know there’s a group in NB that would like to bring races back but I don’t know if it will actually happen.

@@CanYouFoush I even have a picture that my dad took of Jim's boat on the rocks just a few feet from that pillar. Do you know what Jim's injuries were from that crash and if he did get back into racing afterwards?. as i never did get any follow up news about Jim's accident and what injuries he recieved, etc....., as we were just passing through. Thanks for the info👍

Thank you! Had a lot of fun at those Hamilton Races. 1993 was the first year they had it, the course was originally more parallel with the shore, then they changed it.

I think his radios weren’t working totally or something like that, overlap in HRL is a full tail and he didn’t know I was there so he was penalized for closing the door. Very borderline imo but it benefitted me in the end.

What's the top speed of this boat?

It depends on the size of the course and the condition of the water. In this heat I don’t think I went faster than 60-70 mph but in smoother water it’ll get up to 100

@@CanYouFoush Ya, it didn't look like it was very fast (but I bet alot of fun). I used to drag race a tunnel hull boat. It only ran 120 but big money started to come into the racing and push us little guys out. Do you need a driver? lol Have fun and be safe.
