How much did you spend on this? What rear suspension did you go with?
@hitman912Күн бұрын
All together, in the 40s. It has IRS. I bought it as a go kart/roller for 30 something and then did body and interior and small fixes.

The paint is beautiful, I am amazed you built it for that. Sounds as good as it looks, what cam is that?
@crazybastid8522 сағат бұрын
Did you do the paint? I can do some wrenching on the 302 although no experience on irs other than behind the wheel. I can’t figure how I will keep the paint and body prep cost down, it seems impossible. For me irs and 302 are musts.

Body color is in description. Wheels are plastidipped matte anthracite and I don't clean the brake dust. Previous owner had it as a roller and almost complete, but had to sell. I got the body work done, did the interior, and did some other finishing touches.

Definitely my kind of car, nice job I really like it. Just for a bit more a car talk, if the engine seemed tight and ran fine and could serve purpose for a while longer, I would be tempted to have a cam custom ground, some duration and a tight lobe separation angle so we have that nice rumpety rump crackle idle, but keep the ramp speed and lift mellow so as not having to do a bunch of valve train work. Again very neat car. I hope 2023 brings you and yours Health and Wellness

8" will fit on the front, I have 15x8 Cragar SS all the way around on mine. Yours has a nice look with the hood letters and fender top trim removed. When you do the cam, I think you should step up to an 800 carb so you don't leave about 75 hp on the table.

@thejackstandmechanic76334 жыл бұрын
Awesome car! The sound is perfect. Do you have anything in the exhaust aside from the cherry bombs? I built a 445-ci stroker FE using Sanderson Headers. I built my own 2.5-inch dual exhaust with H-pipe and 18-inch Cherry Bombs. I love the sound but it is on the unbearable side of loud, especially for just cruising town. Yours sounds much more tolerable, volume-wise. I wouldn’t think the 445 FE and 2.5-inch exhaust would make that much of a volume difference. I am considering welding in some resonators.
@hitman9124 жыл бұрын
Just the cherry bombs. In another comment I said 18 inchers with 2in in/out, so 2 inch pipes. They were placed right before the pipes bent to exit out the side. The longer the bomb the quieter it gets, right? And the closer to the exhaust outlet/exit the quieter?
@thejackstandmechanic76334 жыл бұрын
Gotcha. Yeah, the longer the glass pack, the quieter, but I think as the pipe diameter increases, so does volume. My 2.5-in diameter, 18-inch cherry bombs (both new) are right at the exhaust tips and I swear sound nearly as loud as straight pipes, it’s ridiculous. But I love the rumble of an FE - can’t be beat!
@Coronet_shop Жыл бұрын
@@thejackstandmechanic7633 uh minor tip since you've built a 445, props to you and that FE going to need more air pushed out. Look into some 3in exhaust
