Brilliant build. The only other places that I would include would be the ruined city of Annuminas and Carn Dum. These are vital cities during the period of the fall of Arnor. Ellesar rebuilds Annuminas as well as Fornost.

Very cool video, if you do decide to do LED lights, imagine somehow having the fellowships path they walked illuminated and even bilbo and crew in the hobbit. Regardless, absolutely, amazing work!
@Phodis7 сағат бұрын
In the larger cities or landmarks you want to light...It's be a great idea to run a few LED's under or to the side of the map...then drill pin holes and run fiber optic cables to each location..that'd make the beacons/Gondor/Bree/ wherever really stand out when its getting dark.

Yeah! Part two is dropping this evening and I've got links to all the landmarks I purchased and links to the ones that I had to model myself.

When you build the glass on top, it would be cool if you mount a adjustable table lamp on the desk instead led, so that you can adjust the "sun" and see the map in new shadows everytime you move the lamp

They make some fairy lights that are MUCH smaller and could be drilled in with a pin drill and hidden for the beacons of Gondor

I think paradoxically - you can only really have "more to this" (infinitely more) in FINITE things... at least meaningfully.. Consider the math in this case :-) . Meaningful infinities exist, but they are found in finite things... like the Zenos paradox (simplified) where you can half a distance to infinity, but the sum of the infinite progression - the distance - is exactly 2 - a finite number. Or Pi (which is not even "well behaved progression" unlike Zenos) that is not only infinite, but is infinitely changing without a pattern - and yet it describes a very finite thing - a circle - in fact, it is Pi´s infinite progression that makes it an infinitely precise description of the circle. So by looking at that finite circle and understanding it deeper, you find infinity... But if you look at an arbitrary wiggle that actually goes on into infinity, you find no meaning at all... I mean, this is probably just nonsense :-D but it came to me after you said "there should be more to this" after reaching an "end" ... Arbitrary infinities (like modern TV) are meaningless. Its in understanding and appreciating finite things deeper, that you find meaningful infinity / infinite meaning:-) PS - I FORGOT! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING WORK !!! :-) Love the "map"... or rather the Middle-Earth! :-)

You can dig in the lore and add way more locations if you want. Dol Amroth, the Grey Havens, Tharbad, Dale, Gundabad, Angmar, Formenost, Annuminas, Eregion... there's tons of locations that don't really appear in the main storyline of LotR that you can design yourself or take inspiration from various artists. If you want of course.

Why are the cities printed upside down? ^^
@christopherclaflin9 күн бұрын
These models require supports while printing, and they leave little imperfections on the model. So they print upside down so that the supports break away from the base of the model rather than on the upper portion where I want the model to be really high quality.
