We are dealing with this same issue all over the United States with out of country companies trying to enforce automation in the USA. This will destroy all longshoreman jobs and have a major impact on the the blue collar working man. I have been a longshoreman for 20 years and have been through it all. On the east coast we are trying to negotiate our new contract and are trying our best to keep automation out of any union operated ports. This will be a tough battle. I just wish that this country and its politics would see what automation would do to this country. Absolutely ruin it. Also I don’t care what anyone says or what other ports numbers are with automation in there terminals. A experienced operator operating the crane/truck/rtg/top loader etc…. Will always do better numbers then a computer.

I wasn't really paying much attention, thinking about something else, and I was thinking how smooth those cranes were turning, and how I had never seen them able to go other directions, and then I noticed the Mamoet name and I realized what I was watching! If he had moved the container up a bit more the lorry would have driven right under.
@Cranedaddytiktok5 күн бұрын
He stopped and honestly, he may have been trying to move that up, but the machines don’t react as fast as we think they should, but he stopped hoping the driver was going to swerve or stop
@zekehorton24647 күн бұрын
That’s exactly why you don’t drive with loads in the air…
@outko247 күн бұрын
How else are you suppose to see infront of you? This is how you drive a top pick.
@hardcoretrance34357 күн бұрын
Hello? The truck (lift) always has the right of way in the yard. Lorry was supposed to yield. Besides, if you don't drive with load in the air you can't see where you are going. Believe me. I drive a Konecranes 20"-45" container reach stacker. Much worse could have happened though. They got off cheap.
@Cranedaddytiktok5 күн бұрын
That’s just a part of what we do. We are constantly moving loads around the truck. Driver was definitely driving too fast following the speed limit with a prevented this accident.
@Whit3Chocolat367 күн бұрын
Why didn’t the truck driver slow down? I know brakes aren’t perfect but come on, you don’t drive like a maniac through an area like that
@cashisking33956 күн бұрын
They drive crazy on the port like that
@Cranedaddytiktok5 күн бұрын
The driver was driving way too fast through the yard. People are always in a hurry and I get it. It’s all about the next move, but slowly smooth and smooth as fast.
@juggernautblue67 күн бұрын
That driver of the truck should be banned from that port.. and the forklift drìver i dont know their policy on merging into traffic but i was taught to always enter traffic in reverse so you can see and maneuver better
@peterlattimore60137 күн бұрын
Sometimes you can't reverse back or eventually you'll need to drive forward anyway. In some instances reverse is as dangerous as forward because you need eyes in both directions. But yes, reverse if you're on a forklift with a load at ground level, but containers are a different story, hence the height.
@juggernautblue67 күн бұрын
@@peterlattimore6013Yea I agree I've never done containers l so it's hard to say

Another loser union trying to bilk more people along the way, jacking up the cost and wait times for the average American consumer. I can't wait for automation to take over the shipping industry, especially at American ports so these whiners shut up for good.
@Cranedaddytiktok12 күн бұрын
Sounds like you’re not part of any union which is unfortunate because automation and AI is going to clearly take over your job before it does ours. It’s gonna be sad for a lot of Americans over the next five years but our union fight for our how about you

That’s 100% correct even with automation these companies will never lower their prices to give us better deals. It’s such a joke because they’re gonna tell you they need to recoup the cost of going automated we hear it all the time
