very interesting!! I'm training my dog to be my psychiactric service dog, and in my area there isn't a lot of service dog trainers that are affordable for people on disability, but there's lots of affordable therapy dog classes, and I realized if he does qualify to be a therapy dog, that would be really fun, and if he doesn't, it would help me a lot with my training goals anyways. I wasn't sure if he would be a good candidate because even though he loves people, he's hand shy. If someone went to pet the therapy dog and he ducked, I feel like that would be highly untheraputic lol. But it's cool to hear how some places it's more of a one-on-one environment, and that some people just want to watch the dog, and he knows some really flashy tricks. I think he would be more than capable of learning to let people grab his head and ears if it's in a quiet, one-on-one environment. If he got mobbed by a crowd of preschoolers, he would definitely revert to ducking and running away lol. He really does love people though, especially when they smell interesting, which happens a lot when you are going through a hard time and you're not doing so well with hygeine, or you use a lot of tobacco or something. He's a huge alaskan husky akita mix, and he's got this gorgeous fluffy mane, and when he takes a shine to someone, he'll come up to them and rub his mane all over them because he wants to smell like them <3 And he looks into their eyes with the most gentle sweet expression and smells their face. I think that would be very theraputic. Plus he knows how to do deep pressure therapy from living with me! I think it could be a very fun hobby to go volunteering together.

Do you have advice for dogs that try to hold their potty for walks? I have a yard and I’d like my dog to use the bathroom in the yard in the morning, but he will hold it for sometimes 16 hours instead of going in the yard! We take him out every half hour to encourage him to go but often he will hold it until we walk him then go right away.

Just beautiful ❤️ yours and Dexter‘s bond is such an inspiration. You both made the serious conditions that Cavalier King Charles Spaniels can have, hopeful and not overpowering a loving and full life. I will always remember the bond you both have from everything you shared online and your journey. What a beautiful story it was! Thank you for teaching us not to be scared with these health issues, but to adapt and keep pushing forward and enjoying life. Sending love always, Keely Henry

My dog drives me nuts! He marks on corners, table legs, boxes, trash cans and anything else he can get close to! I'm at the end of my rope. I have never had a dog do this as much as yoda. He was doing it on my kitchen table leg so I blocked him from the kitchen unless I was in there with him and he just started marking on the coffee table legs or door casings. He's. Ruining everything in the house! I'm to where I am going to resort to belly bands for him. I don't know what else to do. I wanted to get him neutered in hopes of helping stop it but my vet told me he would have higher risk for cancer and other problems and it might not fix the problem.

How fast did you see improvement?
@raisingyourpetsnaturally2 ай бұрын
When we started in 2020, it was a gradual process that he was spunkier and at one of his vet visits, we decided to reduce his pain meds. Now, it keeps him stable, and on off days, improves his mobility/pain that day ( I still rest him).

I finally got over to the blog to read about these harness'. Excellent article! I've been wondering if I had Oliver fit correctly over the shoulder area. Good to know about the caution on using the front clip. All that to say: I love the "Pebbles" hairdo - Dexter sported it well! May have to resort to that for Diana - she likes to remove her snood! Our puppy is 8 months old and used to pee pads from the shelter. I tried moving the pads to a different spot and he learned that, but whenever I try to bring him outside just as he’s about to pee, he doesn’t go outside . Should I just get rid of the pads altogether?
