Just to let you know a crane is in place and they are currently constructing a 182 metre high glass elevator down to Kelingking Beach. So you can either bask in your sense of accomplishment or say if only we had waited a couple of years until the elevator was ready. The purpose of building it is undermined by the police having since January 2024 having banned swimming at both this beach and Diamond Beach due to the danger. On the 21 January 2023, a 33-year-old Russian women was rescued from Kelingking Beach after she suffered a dislocated shoulder and had to be evacuated by officers up the steep and dangerous steps from the beach. On 22 January, a 28-year-old French tourist was also taken to hospital after suffering injuries while swimming in the waters off Kelingking Beach. Over the 2023 Christmas period, a Malaysian tourist died after being dragged out to sea by high waves and a strong undercurrent at Diamond Beach.

Got great packing ideas. Have never thought of using so many cubes. Only use a couple so that was really informative - also the portable charger. I'm exhausted from all the merchandise I saw in that video - would not have been able to make one decision about a Christmas gift! And I agree with the Tim Horton experience. We once found one in the back corner of a grocery store in Dublin! Not very prominent signage at all - much more visible in Glasgow! Grant hates the McFlurry in Mexico because the Smarties don't get mixed into the ice cream very much. Just fun though! 🙂

Incredible that (1) you had the energy to go on such a physically (walking and eating) tour so soon after arriving in Bangkok and (2) you were as brave as you were with such a wide variety of tastes. Interesting way to put together a meal though - ice cream in the middle - bugs - so many types of broths and stew dishes. Fun time! 🙂

Khao San road feels very fake, few restaurants and shops, I went there and immediately regretted it. Looks like the entire road was set up for tourists, I also didn't see any locals there other than the people working there, just foreigners.

Asiatique opens in the late afternoon. Every shop, restaurant, and the giant Ferris wheel come alive at night.
