Hi Carolyn. I think we've all been there, I know I have. When we are in the darkest moments of our lives and we see no light shining in the darkness. When we don't feel the presence of God. If it's just for a night or a few nights we can usually handle it, but when the Lord’s absence feels as if it is dragging on and on we can easily become depressed especially if we are not feeling well or have been up all night with a sick baby. And we cry out, "How long O Lord?" I love that you posted this and said what you did. We often, especially as new believers, but all of us feel we can't express feeling abandoned by God. We are so afraid other believers will question our faith, our love, and trust of the Lord. But believers often feel this way. It's okay to ask these things of God. If David, a man after God's own heart, can, if Elijah can feel abandoned, we can too. I love that you highlighted the prayer in v. 5/6 that can help us deal with these feelings and remind ourselves that God has been faithful in the past and will be faithful in the future. Beautiful page and timely sentiment. Blessings ❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏✝️✝️✝️

Thank you so much. I love the Psalms and the prayers in the Psalms so much, because they give such an example of feelings we go through and what to pray, and how in the end of the Psalms most of them point right back to trusting in God. I love what you said about how we all feel this way at times. When I've cried out to God, "How Long? Help me trust you through this," He has answered that prayer of carrying me through every time. Blessings to you! ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏✝️✝️✝️❤️

I love this and I have a question or 2. Is this the new Crossway Bible for Journaling? I was looking at getting that one and I noticed the copper rings....my real question is the about the bled through on the next page. What is that like? I currently art journal in a separate notebook because I am afraid to damage the Bible. Any help would be great.
@Abrushoffaith5 күн бұрын
Thanks so much! Yes, this is one of the ESV spiral journaling Bibles. I really do love them. The pages are pretty thick but I did get bleed through with the stamps. That is the case with any paper though, with stamps. The watercolor did not bleed through although you can see a faint shadow on the other side. I don’t prep my page for this though. If you don’t want any bleed through put some clear gesso on the page and let it dry before you do any art and with the way mine looks without gesso, I bet you will have minimal bleed through if any. I hope that helps, let me know if you have any more questions.

Wow Carolyn, I really like those two questions to ask myself when I am struggling with some of the lies and distractions that creep into my mind. I've especially noticed that when I am in prayer, my thoughts are often distracted away from the Lord. I know it is an attack meant to stop me from praising and bringing glory to our Savior. I'm going to try asking myself, What is the lie? and What is the truth? in the future. I think it will help me to re-focus my thoughts on Jesus and His promises. Again, thank you. We have to fight the enemy's mind games every time they rear their ugly heads! Blessings ❤❤🙏🙏🙏✝️✝️✝️

Such a beautiful way to illustrate Psalm 139, a Psalm I'm often drawn to in times of fear and trouble. It is so reassuring to know that our Heavenly Father always has His hand upon us, that He formed us and knows us. That there is no place we go that He is not already present. "Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." Amen Lovely page and meditations, Carolyn. Thank you, and all His peace and blessings be upon you ❤❤🙏🙏🙏✝️✝️✝️

So pretty. I love bees, butterflies, ladybugs, dragonflies all kinds of insects so whenever you use them in your art I just love the results! I so appreciate your teaching on God's love for us. I think it is often the most difficult attribute of God for many of us to accept, especially for women. To think that we are indeed so worthy of our heavenly Father's unfathomable love for us despite past human treatment or certain sins in our lives. I know I have struggled with it at certain times. It was so wise of your pastor to advise you at the time of our constant understanding and maturing into the recognition of such a love that would sacrifice His own Perfect Son for fallen, sinful, prideful humanity. It is sometimes too big to even wrap our heads around. But your artwork Carolyn captured the simple beauty of it. A beauty that is so pure that even a little child can grasp it. Just lovely Carolyn. Thank you. Blessings ❤❤🙏🙏🙏🐝🐞🦋🐛

Thank you for sharing this, I grew up not being wanted by my dad, he took me over to my aunt Gayle's house and I stayed with them. I was heartbroken. I had a bad time at school and went from job to job. I got married only to go through a divorce later, he choose porn over me. I definitely needed to hear that God loves me.

I add my own words of sorrow for what you endured as a child. I just want to hug that little girl. I had a father who loved me but was often away so though I don't know the sadness you bore, I can offer a suggestion that helped me heal. I wrote myself a letter, from my grown up me to my little girl me. I told myself how sorry I was that I had to endure such loneliness, etc., that I didn't deserve it, that I was a loving and kind little girl that was deserving of love and companionship. I added that now I knew that I was never truly expendable or alone. That my heavenly Father was with me, holding me in His arms the whole time. I ended with a hug from grown up me to that frightened, lonely little girl. I cried a lot of tears writing that letter but it was very healing. I felt that in so doing, I was acknowledging what had happened, affirming my worth, giving a voice to my pain and healing the wounds. It's just something I thought I'd share that helped me heal. I wish you well and hope you know how loved you truly are ❤♥️ 🙏🙏🙏✝️✝️✝️

I know you think it came out too dark but I think it came out really nice. The blue and red shades together pop and I like how you finished it off. Mind games is so true. Our enemy will sneak into our thoughts and try to discourage us, try to cause us to distrust Jesus. But yes, God is working in us. I recently read about a woman who memorized a certain scripture and prayed it every day. As she grew older she had a harder time remembering it fully. When she was very old and close to death she repeated just one word from the scripture, but that one Word was everything. The word she repeated was, Him, Him, Him. I tear up when I think about that. She recalled the most important word--HIM. Blessings Carolyn ❤❤🙏🙏🙏✝️✝️✝️

The page really turned out so beautiful. I love the way you printed the Scripture out and then how your outline of it really made it pop. I agree to do more of that. My dad used to letter beautifully with the metal tipped pens and India Ink. He could do all kinds of lettering including Old English which he did in our Bible when my husband and I were married. My dad's gone now so I treasure it. Unfortunately, I don't share his skill 😮 so I really like your idea. Did you say you did it on your "cricket"? What is that? Don't you just love reading thru the Psalms? Whenever I need God's extra encouragement I read Psalm 37, 55, 91 and so many others. Great job Carolyn. Thank you and the Lord's continued blessings ❤❤🙏🙏🙏✝️✝️✝️

It worked well with it. I didn’t have any problems, it crinkled a bit when dry but it does that in the Bible too. The notebook I think would need something heavy on it for a while to get the crinkles out where the Illustrating Bible is so heavy it does that itself.

Beautiful. I went through a period of intense trials, many storms that rolled over me continuously. I thought at times I could not take one more minute of the trials. I doubted that God cared, that He even knew. One day, when I was at my lowest and frightened that I might do something to hurt myself, I cried out to Him to stay close to me that day. Immediately, I felt His powerful presence. All day and night, He made His presence known to me. He had been with me all along but I had been doubting His love and protection so strongly that it prevented me from knowing it. I have never doubted Him again. Thank you for reminding me of this time Carolyn and our Savior's unfathomable love for us. ❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏✝️✝️✝️

Carolyn, once again, your teaching on forgiveness is so perfect. It is never easy, whether the offense is big or small, but the more hurtful the offense, the more difficult our task to forgive. I love your veey specific prayer to Jesus, and I will pray it in the future. I love how you lay your burden at the Cross, as He tells us. Even then, it is often agonizing whenever the hurt is recalled. It feels as if the enemy does it to weaken our trust in Jesus. Your prayer helps to remind me to bring it back to Him. I have been betrayed so many times that sometimes it's difficult to trust again. I know you understand what I mean. But if we recall all Jesus has done and continues to do for us, we can trust Him to heal our wounded hearts. Your page is so pretty. Thank you for listing all the material you use. When I get brave enough to try this, I'll know what I need. Blessings ❤ 🙏🙏🙏✝️✝️✝️
