I did around 18 months no booze. I had stopped enjoying it. When I first quit it was the perceived social pressure that I thought would be hard, but now one have a shit about me not drinking. I now have 2 beers a week and really enjoy them.

This was an incredible story. Your comment at 7:25 rings true. We are about to start our big caravan trip, but I’m getting nervous. I’ve worked so long without a break I’ve forgotten how to be happy, I’ve forgotten that holidays happen. It’ll take some getting used to being on the road and having the freedom. Thanks for your video.

An interesting take on life. We traveled full time for about 4 years back in the mid 90's. Broke as a pack of bastards working everywhere, Was an interesting time. Then we settled down, then kids. Now the kids are about to take their own flight so it's almost back to us again. A month ago, one of my gym friends was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He wont see 50. That was another wakeup call and it prompted my to fulfil a lifelong dream, so I bought a share in a power plane because we really dont know how much time we've been allocated in this life. Thanks for sharing!

G'day Brad cant believe it was 9 months ago I commented on this video. We sold up everthing and have been up and down from Albany to Perth several times as we were waiting on the canopy build for our Hilux (took 5 months) but we are now fulltime touring and are currently near Bremer Bay working our way to SA. Our lap around will be more like a zig zag as we will be following the good weather, really enjoy the freedom of being unshackled from a house. At this stage have no definitive plans for the future as we have no time limits. Will have to head back to Perth occasionally to catch up with our new grandson, thanks for the inspiration Regards Bill🙂👍

I stopped consumption of all substances. Many of my friends in the same age demographic didn't stop until it was medically necessary. I see a few still drinking but basically alcohol and other social substances are slow acting poison. I am amazed at how clear my everyday thinking has become. I'm also amazed at how my ability to grasp new concepts such as quantum connection and advanced geometric mathematical theory. Free the mind ditch the poison.

Good on you Brad. We recently said goodbye to Scott’s brother Steven (46years young). He was an alcoholic. It’s gut wrenching to watch someone’s life fade away to the addiction of alcohol. He was a kind, gentle guy who deserved more in his life. If only he had the strength, education, tools, right support and the will to make the changes to live a longer, healthier life. I’m proud of you for being honest, making this change and being an amazing role model for your kids. Goodluck! Looking forward to following along. 👊🏼💪🏼

Greetings my Viking friend. I have some comments : 1) If your dream is based on winning the lotto then you'll never go. 2) Hard work, saving, doing without, investing wisely and living frugally is what gives you options later on. Options to choose freedom. Luck has nothing to do with it. Options are not luck. 3) The most important things in life are Health, Family, Freedom, Integrity. 4) Good human health comes from human behavior and that includes eating human food, cutting out alcohol, no seed oils, no sugars, no carbs and no processed foods. Plenty of sunshine, exercise good sleep and lowering stress will allow a longer happier life.

I gave up drink 2 years ago and today I take pleasure in saying No Thank You when I am offered a drink. I'm also (about) half way through life, debt free and living an off-grid Ketovore life. People put alcohol sanitiser on their hands to kill the bugs and microbes yet they happily put it in their stomachs. Make sure you learn to read food labels and cut out all Seed Oils, Sugars, Processed Foods and Carbs. There is essential fats and proteins but no essential carbs. Check out Dr Sten Ekberg, Dr Eric Berg, Dr Jason Fung, Dr Eric Westman, Dr Ken Berry, Dr Mark Hyman, Dr Pradip Jamnadas. Good health comes from human behaviour and that includes eating human food. Only eat human food...

i did a year on the road like u. i just got into a house. 3 kids and wife. honestly, its been 2 months and i hate being in the house. the family is disconnected again and back in the rat race. we are going again end of the year. if it feels wrong, it feels wrong for a reason. society is not natural the way it is. also our kids back in school after a year. they are 3 years above everyone else and they only did 2 hours a day! HAHAHA and every day is a drinking day, so funny. that was us. we dont drink but were having 2-4 drinks in the arvo watching the sun go down and the kids play. puts a tear in my eye.

If you drink every day 2-6 drinks, or a bottle of wine or spirits, every night. You are an alcoholic. As a Gastro nurse, treating people with liver cirrhosis. Draining off up to 8L fluid from their abdomen is an eye opener.

@@BradOlsenShow So true. Everyone's version is. And when they state a daily amount consumed, the Doc doubles it. No, I dont drink at all. My parents were alcoholics. My father had Korsakofs dementia (Alcoholic shrinking of the brain). They died at 64 and 65. They would be 96 if still alive. They never got to enjoy their grandkids. My mother died of an aneurysm 1 year before my 1st born. Not here to preach. Just life. I commend you for the lifestyle changes you made for yourself and your family. ❤️

Just found yr video. You are spot on. Don't leave it too late. The saying - I wish! A friend crammed every minute of his life, doing things after a plane crash that nearly crippled him. I understand now. As an empty nester I was able to sell the family home, retire from full time nursing and relocate to the sea, 460km from Adelaide. Daunting to leave my adult sons. But they have their own lives to live. So doing the sea change, hubby needs a bit of a push. We got the van and after overseas trips, now trips in the van. I dont want to sell our retirement home in case our health deteriorates and we need a base. Just do it. Life is too short. In the blink of an eye, your life has sped by.

Well done Brad , both my wife and I stopped drinking alcohol early Dec 2020 I was 56 at the time. We had already since about 2014 cleaned up our diet by removing sugar. The 2 years before that we'd been to quite a few funerals of people in their early 50's and sort of looked at ourselves and decided to make changes. To be honest I found it harder giving up the iced coffees than I did alcohol but giving up the booze was just the next progression. Best decision we ever made, Saved a lot of money and at 59 bounce out of bed in the morning ( or is that because we quit our jobs 18 months ago 😅) Also will lesson the weight when we go 4wd touring later this year. Thanks for posting this informative brave video 👍

Hi Brad , my wife just sent me this video. We are currently selling our house to start our travel Aus dream. Iam 59. Left work 18 months ago. We will 4wd and tent it. Were planning to buy a new vehicle but the waiting list for the vehicle is 6 to 9 months then the canopy we want is 3 to 4months. So a low mileage used vehicle will be our updated plan. Our kids are independent nowadays but would have loved to have done what you did when they were younger what an amazing life gift to have passed on, I will now subscribe and watch some more of your videos.
