Hey Bahama, You can never go wrong with any of the entire line vintage classic Advents. They sound neutral with warmth and detail. I purchased 3 pairs of Advent 3's and lucked up on a pair of 5012/w's last year! Additionally, Advents sound good with all types of music and found that's kinda rare of a speaker back in the day. Your system sounds very good. Thx

Awful music choice. It sounds like a battle of the band's faceoff. - Sigh - Old Hippies

I'm kappa 9 owner, with Mcintosh , and Parasound power amp. So I'm just wondering your Carver how to able to drive these speakers , at 0.7 ohm???? Normal or extended mode?
@bahamayellow19605 жыл бұрын
Hello I’m using 2 carver Tfm-25s in bi amp mode. I’m am running in normal mode. I have not tried extended mode as it has plenty of bass and will shake the room. I have seen a spec on the Tfm 25s stable at 2 ohms. I’m also using a parasound zpre amp bought used for 200 bucks. The combo is really great together. One of the amps is stock and the other was rebuilt with better caps in the output stage. It sounds much nicer than the stock one with more extended mids and highs.

@@bahamayellow1960 Be careful, K9 is able to kill your amplifiers, and if you got bad luck may be destroy your speakers!!! Some of them amplifiers before will melted , !!! wil evaporated the driver , and after will meted amplifier .

J.Rabbi so far I’ve had them 4 years now and no issues with same setup. Amps only warm not hot since used. Had them on 10 hours straight some days.

I know this setup shouldn’t really work but it does. My amps only weigh about 30 pounds each and no huge big amps.

Sadly it does not glow the eyeball. It’s a bowling ball I bought years ago and was too cool to have it drilled and use.

Always thought I'd like to own a pair. How much power is needed?
@bahamayellow19606 жыл бұрын
Right now I am running 2 Carver TFM-25s in a bi amp mode so 225 x 4 watts. If you use a really stout amp like Mac or Krell one is usually enough from what I hear. The ultimate setup is suppose to be a tube amp on top and solid state for the woofers.

Very little power is needed as long as you don´t do like everyone else by using the extend mode switch. Not many people even know about the swtich. They are 4-6 ohms at 102db!!!! If you engage the extended mode switch then you will need a nuclear reactor to power them. I use an audio research VT60SE with out any problems what so ever, i also use a SVS SB16 ultra just to fill in the low end, the sub volume is so low you hardly notice is.
@bahamayellow19605 жыл бұрын
@@ac81017 You are correct I am not running in extended mode which I think helps. I have plenty of bass out of them and my room is small.

They need solid high current amplifiers such as those krell and even the Aragons. There are many amps out there with plenty of wattage in paper...but with the Kappa 9s....they become paper. Need a strong circuit and conmensurable amplification to make them sing how they were intended to. Brightness or Sibilance on top signals the speakers not getting sufficient power.
