Heyyy! This is called "supercooled water" basically, it's difficult for the water molecules to freeze together without a decisive place to start, so at these freezing or barely below freezing temperatures, water can still exist specifically because it hasn't moved. A really cool experiment you can do is when the water is supercooled, if you carefully pour the water out on some cold metal or whatever, it will freeze the second it touches and you can slowly pour out an ice tower! It's an exellent experiment to show to kids or drunk friends.

What model of trail tech speedo/clock/engine temp/elevation/trip/voltage do you have with the large readout? I have a trail tech vapor and can hardly see the information as the readout is very small. Any help? Charlie

That is the Voyager Pro, Expensive includes a lot of other stuff also but when you combine it all into one unit, it’s worth it when your bike doesn’t display any of this info.

Nice riding looks like fun, would you recommend this bike for actual dual sport riding? (50/50 pavement vs off road) Looks like you ride mostly off road.

yes I woudl, if you like big cc bikes.. lots of low end torque, prob too much really but I do all types of riding. Michigan sand to forest roads to West Virginia coal mine trails, does it all really good. I come from a KX500 and XR650R though, so used to the big motors.

I think that might be for four wheelers... dirt bikes are much younger... Because in general dirt bikes are safer, lighter, they don't tend to flip over on you.

Very interesting. I am planning to install a battery and radiator fan on my XR650R -00. I’d love to get some advice from you. What to do with the stator? One or two fans? Temperature operated or by a switch? How to charge the battery from your stator? Etc etc

I have stock stator, but I do have the Baja designs regulator for the headlight... which came with a little NiCad pack, but I deleted NiCad pack and just run a little lead acid battery that fits under the seat. The stock stator works pretty good as long as you're revving... at idle, the fan draws it down a bit, but that's what the battery is for. Overall, it works great! I found a spot to take the battery down below the seat and just used some windshield sealant to hold it in from moving. That also works great.

i have this exact issue, mine will not move. If I go on the forums I know I will be told to tweak it each side with a screwdriver and its dirt holding it in. Dirt??? I am destroying the honeycomb, the whole chassis is bending, both sidesof power module move but the centre shaft is stopping it coming away. Something more will break, I need to get it off as my car caught on the ground at 40mph (slightly raised block paving about 8mm....yeah I know wtf) and stopped dead, snapped the esc from its mounts, the motor module moved enough to break off that red piece of plastic that guards the driveshaft, and it unplugged the battery. i will try dismantling everything behind it like you suggest. Nothing else i can do as the power module is virtually seized and wheels hardly spin so I need to free it to see what is damaged. This is infuriating, I have never had a rc car that I couldn't take apart. Ps I do not understand what you mean with your update, you did not see why? I have removed the top diff cover, I had to try but this does not help at all because now levering just is ripping the diff out of the bottom half. you cant get the diff out of the way without sliding the motor module forward. This is ridiculous, I am stuck!!! What do you mean by 'then finially I took a screwdriver and hammered the motor mount housing forward ' ?? where were you hitting it, how were you using the screwdriver?

The hammering from side to side worked better than prying... after removing the rear diff housing.. I also let it soak for days/months wtih PB Blaster in there also, maybe that helped.

plenty of power, and only had a knobby, not a paddle. Just a heavy bike so jumping into sand isnt the best. :) LIke the KX500 much better, havent tried the 500EXC-F yet. Maybe this summer.

I have a husky 450 love it but want the xr650 for a all around bike… roads , trails , dunes and some here and there solo camping trips. I would need to redo the shocks to fit my riding style as I ride a little faster then they would handle from what I read. A little on the soft side.

The 650R is great at the faster trails, fire roads, etc, not so great at tight stuff, rocky hillclimbs because if you stop or get stuck, it's a pain to turn around or re-start on a hil Also no good at jumping/turning... I also have a KX500 and love it, best at everything just not a good cruizer or straight/long road/trail bike. Recently got a KTM500 EXC-F to fill the gap between the KX500 and the XR650R... so we will see. Mainly wanted something with electric start.

@@1DanMcLain I like 500 two strokes also I have a 1984 cr 500 ( ping king lol) haven’t rode it much in a year or two. The ktm 500 is on the list but I have a few issues with it for my purpose…. Will be doing long hauls and don’t feel as it would be that comfortable . The xr650 and dr650 is where I’m at right now.

@@thewillofus.defend1351 yep the 650R is probably the best of any big bore four stroke. Ultra reliable, that's what I'm worried about with the KTM. Maybe it won't last very long.

Looked like a little black smoke when you were first cracking the throttle so mixture going rich? Maybe a leaky injector that wont make enough difference off idle to notice?

yea I noticed that in the video, but in real life it is blue and smells of fresh burning oil, not rich fuel.. there is a distinct difference.

I just noticed the GET ecu switch on your bars so maybe you’ve already removed your reeds? If so,I would suspect ecu problems.

I did put the taco GET in for one day and pulled it back out because when I had it in this happened three times in one ride, but this was the stock ECU and I still have reeds. I’m worried that it’s something like the rod big end bearing or piston seizing up when Idle like that. So yours is still running OK? Just this random low power thing?

@@1DanMcLain Dan,mines still running awesome. I also have the Taco GET,ProMoto Billet endcap and reeds removed. If I were you I would def pull your air filter and make sure your reeds are seated properly and not loose or able to move around. Your problem may be completely diff than mine but worth a look. You can see/check the reed block just by pulling air filter

@@roberteddy1951 funny you said that about the reeds being loose.. after one of the stock ECU backfires sure enough, it poped the reed case out of the inlet.. but still ran good it was just loose. Dont think that would create this strange problem.

I have a 2020 500 exc-f that was acting the exact same way totally stock. Low on power,sometimes would struggle to go 50mph on open road at full throttle,stop and fan would be running after a highway run. Problem started after prob 15-20 hrs. Something was def wrong ! What I found was the reeds in the intake boot had somehow came loose and vibrated sideways in the boot,effectively blocking off I’m guessing 50% of the airflow to the engine. I reached in with a pair of pliers and easily pulled the reeds out and problem solved. Maybe my bike was built on a Friday after lunch(beer) or maybe for some reason the glue that holds the reeds in place had not adhered properly?? Whatever the cause it runs fine now with no apparent damage at 150 hrs.

guess what? I had a lean backfire.. well I checked the reeds and they pushed themselves half out of the socket.. lol, just like you. But I think my problem is different as it only does it after sitting idle for a bit.

@@roberteddy1951 so must be a real thing. Runs great if I dont let it idle when riding, and doesnt use any oil.. I feel like there is a shaft somewhere seizing up due to low oil circulation (idle). dunno.

@@1DanMcLain I agree the 10 is better in low light. However they are dropping a fresh firmware update real soon supposedly. Do you think you can tweak the iso or ev to get better low light?

@@swexplorer probably, all it appears to be is darker, so if I boosted it, I think it would look much like the 10, as grainy as the 10 is in low light, as well. That's probably why they darkened it a bit, to make it look less grainy. I dont use it much in low light like this, so it's not all that important. But, I do like the "fake" blue tint the GoPro 8+10 give water.. the 11 is more real color.

UPDATE!!! Finally the spur gear in the motor mount slipper clutch stripped out, to get it apart I had to remove the rear differential case by prying up the release flange on the motor mount housing hoping not to break it, then pry the upper rear differentical housing out to gain access to the pinion shaft.. then finially I took a screwdriver and hammered the motor mount housing forward and it did come off! Just slowly, rocking each side. It wasnt rusted, but not sure why it was so hard to remove. It slipped right on the last time I installed it. You know what, maybe some LOCTITE made it back there from the screw at the front???

yea, I think it rained a day or two before we showed up. The south trail was super deep sand, but the north side was fine. With the right bike it's ok (KX500), but it's not OK with the XR650R :)

yes, Ignition Settings/Ignition Options then in the menus "Start Wasted COP", can set to "wait for Cam Sync" to disable.
