I am a 4th year(8th semester just started )medical student in Kyrgyzstan. I am from india.clearing USMLE is my dream but I am just clueless! I have been trying to understand since 1st year of med school but there is not a single person around me who have attempted or cleared this exam . I have seen many videos regarding this , but just don't understand what to do. There is so much confusion , about what I have to study specifically for USMLE, (Apart from the prepladeer subscription I have) what other books or subscriptions do I need? and everything. Can you help me please ? Can you guide me through please?

I studied in the span of 1 year. However, I was studying very inconsistently in this 1 year period depending on how much free time I had aside from clerkships. On average a few hours a day on most days, I would say:)

congratulations on passing step 1!!! Can you please tell me how you managed your med school duties such as rotations and med school exam while you were studying for step 1?
@kenmed79322 жыл бұрын
Thanks 😊 and that is a great question😅 I am going to be honest; it was very rough. It all boils down to planning and really committing yourself to that planning, which is not always easy. I will upload a separate video answering your question in more depth by also giving examples of what I exactly did during my Step 1 study prep. To be continued 😇

Translation: 'I want to get licensed as a doctor in the US because it's in accordance with what drove me into the profession of medicine in the first place - greed for material acquisitions. Doctors in USA earn far more than their counterparts in the Netherlands. I am salivating for the $. "

I'm interested to know more about working as a doctor in the Netherlands! How difficult is it for foreign doctors to move to there and what are the requirements?
@kenmed79323 жыл бұрын
Hi Rihan, thanks for your question. The Netherlands is a very pleasant country to live and work in. Unfortunately, the process of becoming a qualified physician as an IMG/IMD is less streamlined than in the USA. It's definitely possible as I have come across doctors from for example Syria who have earned their qualifications to practice in the Netherlands. Yet, the process is vague and elaborate. It involves some steps including passing the National Dutch Language test, as well as getting registered with the Royal Dutch Medical Association (KNMG). For more info I would like to refer you to this website: studyabroadaide.com/become-medical-doctor-netherlands/ Feel free to ask me any other question! Good luck

Don't worry about the pass/fail system, concentrate in the work. If you do well in the step1 the step2 will be a step more easy. I didn't mean it will be a walk in the park, but much better than anyone without the step1. So concentrate in the process. All will be well.
@kenmed79323 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advice! Preparing for step 1 will definitely aid my step 2 journey. We’ll see how it goes and I keep you guys updated along the way.

We are in this together then! I have started this process mid January. Since that time, I have done my first pass of all the chapters in First Aid. Additionally, I have gone over the general principles chapters + cardiovascular + renal an extra time while watching the corresponding lectures on USMLE Rx. I am not going to cover all the chapters in First Aid in combination with the Rx lectures, since that will take too much time. Now I have shifted my focus to Pathoma, reading and simultaneously watching dr. Sattar's lectures. For the rest, have been doing practice questions as well (approx. 80 questions per week). Once I finish Pathoma, I will buy U-World and do at least 40 questions a day. I am doing this amidst all my regular classes. I am aiming to take the exam at the end of December. From early November till late December (exam date), I have reserved a free month, which will be my dedicated study time. Good luck in this process, Hasan!

@@kenmed7932 Thanks for sharing this with us. I am spending slightly more time reading low-yield resources beside FA, as i need to fill some gaps in my basic knowledge (e.g. physiology), sometimes this made me feel bugged down. I recommend you reading this recent experience in Step1 group on facebook as i found it quite helpful facebook.com/groups/USMLEStep1nbme18/permalink/3870140616427287/ Best of luck Ken!
