Thanks for another awesome video, Chris. Those jumpsuits look great on you. I hope I didn’t miss it - but which is your favorite color? I love the maroon one and wish I had the body type for it.

Thanks! glad you are enjoying them. Now having very accurate colors to all 3 divisions the blue one is my current favorite color.

Thanks for the video, Chris. So well done - I wish I had one of these that would support the weight of the pips. Everything I have tried either doesn’t look right or is too thin to stay in place. Questions for you - how do you like the accuracy of the DS9/Voyager Anovos jacket? I haven’t seen one in person, but got a glimpse of the back of your jacket so curious for your thoughts on it.
@primedirectivedesign13 күн бұрын
Thanks! As for the Anovos jacket, It has a several things that depart from being fully accurate, they did put out a jumpsuit that was much more accurate, however regarding the jacket lack of accuracy is not using the wool for the top yoke, the inside of the yoke should also be division color but it is black. I am sure the black fabric is not correct either but that's not a big issue and the zipper on the screen used was an invisible but the jacket version one does not; overall its a good piece to have.
@ajlotter11 күн бұрын
Thanks for this, Chris. There was something about the back of the jacket that looked a little off, but I wasn’t certain. I could also just be making things up. Would you have any interest in making one of these uniforms, the jacket or the jumpsuit? I would love to have one.
@DelcoRanz9314 күн бұрын
This is definitely a good option for the standard collar design, Since the DS9/Voyager jumpsuit is a costume that I have on the backburner. I'd probably need to order a few shirts and experiment with collar length and whether or not I can get it looking a bit more like the hero collars that have that subtle ridge toward the top from how that version of the collar is constructed.

Great video, many thanks! I sadly only own a german fanclub branded cap. Bought back in the day, and used often, so its faded and worn. (Never thought they became sought after...) My chances of getting a full uniform replica a near zero, mostly because they did not make replicas for people who are 6.5" (2m) tall... Ah, well...

Awesome you have one of the hats! Maybe one day someone will make accurate jumpsuit custom commissions.

Good work on this! its very rare to see an enterprise uniform, let alone a screen used one. so thank you doing a video on it! Season one used a blue dye which came out as indigo/purple-blue under studio lighting which is why they transtioned the uniforms to a more brighter blue in season three (with the season one jumpsuits being transitioned to extras wearing them) There are some good replicas out there, Cosemart do a simple one, made out of light denim that stick to the season three blue and a shop called the excellent leather shop also do the jumpsuit in a light blue dye. They mix in quality but defintley some good replicas out there but nothing compared to anovos or german fan club run.

Thank you for the comparison. Your season 1 jumpsuit is awesome. Question: I have an engineering/security TNG tunic from Anovos - how would someone know if it is the premium version? It seems well constructed and the color is spot on. It is also lined. Is there something to look for?
@primedirectivedesignАй бұрын
Thanks for the question. Yes there is a way to determine if it is a premier line, if you look at the tag and where it has the type of materials used and it says wool then you have a premier line if it says cotton/polyester or just polyester than it would be a standard line, the construction quality and color is usually good for both and not a good way to tell.
@ajlotterАй бұрын
@ thank you so much. Looks like I have the standard line version (65% polyester/35% cotton). Now if I could only wear it. 🖖

Interesting vid, if I had the spare cash I'd certainally consider having a punt on a uniform some time - my own sewing skills are rather poor sadly. Any thoughts on doing a TNG film/later DS9 uniform at some point? Or the monster maroons even? Also do you use existing paterns or make your own, and if the second, would you consider making those available? Either for free or paid?
@primedirectivedesignАй бұрын
funny you should ask about the ds9/ monster maroons as they are my least favorite and have no real desire to make those sorry. I have made some of my own patterns specifically for the TOS green wrap around and spacesuits but the TNG patterns are sourced from www.tailorsgonewild.com/

I have to ask - back in the day, there was a Simplicity sewing pattern for the jumpsuit. I made my grandma “try” to make it but she couldn’t get the yoke right. Have you ever tried using that pattern? Seems like it was more of a season 2 sort of jumpsuit pattern.
@primedirectivedesign14 күн бұрын
There is an older simplicity pattern and a newer version that was made for the 50th anniversary, I have only used the 50th version, its not great but serviceable, I cannot speak to the older version however.

I 3D model and print my own badges for personal use and I use magnets on them to attach them to whatever I'm wearing. What I do to keep them from twisting and turning is to add some protrusions to the piece that goes behind the tunic or jumpsuit that will grip the fabric when wearing the badge. My first real test with it was when I wore a prototype to the 2022 Tampa Bay comic con and it stayed on the whole time without twisting or turning.
@primedirectivedesignАй бұрын
Nice! There are definitely ways to make magnets work better but I will always prefer the Velcro method.

Those are so cool! I've been getting into sewing and Trek has become a giant obsession of mine in the last years and I''ve been thinking of making an uniform like those but more like the TNG era, do you know the fabric used to make them and if there's any sewing patterns available online to follow? (of the TNG or any other era/series, all of them are great haha)
@primedirectivedesignАй бұрын
Hey, the fabrics used for TNG were either jumbo spandex for the jumpsuits or wool gabardine for the 2 piece mens uniforms. The best source for patterns for TNG is www.tailorsgonewild.com/ I have a video of me putting together a TNG jumpsuit you can also check that out here kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKKtp36If89soNUsi=Jr8adF9zEfZmH1QR

I have one of those toy phasers, but I've also 3D printed a static prop version that's more in line with the screen-used prop from later on in TNG through to DS9's first three seasons and Voyager's first season. This version of the prop lacked the power level indicator and had the decals removed from the body. I suspect that the Power level indicator was removed from the later versions of the prop as a way to extend the prop's battery life while the decals were removed to increase turnaround time for the fabrication process. The best look we get of that particular version of the prop is in TNG's "Frame of Mind"

Since I'm trying to get an Early DS9/Voyager jumpsuit started, I had the idea of making a "Living Witness" uniform from the Voyager episode of the same name. It uses the same jumpsuit design, but the undershirt is black, it lacks a combadge and rank pips and adds a pair of leather gloves to the ensemble.

The bowl is just about impossible to find now. I got mine from the company that provided the actual bowls for Quarks bar but I guess they went out of business. As for the recipe, it's 4.5 oz White Rum. 3 oz Limon Rum. 1.5 oz Black Rum. 1.5 oz Spiced Rum. .75 oz Bacardi 151. 1.5 oz Raspberry Liquor. And 30 oz Sobe Power. Since you can't find Sobe Power any more, the original recipe used 10 oz each of pineapple, orange, and cranberry juice. Add ice and dry ice. It's funny, I only use Bacardi 151 in this drink and I just opened a new bottle. So I guess that means I've made over 30 warp core breaches since I got the bowl and recipe back in 2009.

@@Foxingg there is safe ways to drinks made with dry ice, same with liquid nitrogen or burning alcohol. one is to sip the drink until the dry ice dissolves or wait five minutes before drinking. dry ice will settle to the bottom unlike water ice. since it would be a chunk at the bottom of that bowl and you drink by straws you wouldn't get any dry ice in you.

@TheRadical42 Sure you can....the hardest part is finding the Sobe Power....Here's the real recipe: I make it about once a month. 4.5oz White Rum. 3oz Lime flavored Rum (Bacardi Limon). 1.5oz Dark Rum (Tattoo or Bacardi Select). 1.5oz Spiced Rum. .75oz Bacardi 151. 1.5oz Raspberry Liquor (Raspberry Rush or Chateau Monet works) 30oz Sobe Power. (search BevMo) 36 cubes Ice. 1/3 lb dry ice. Get the real container from Intergalactic Bartender ($60.00) and you're in business.

And even though I only had half of a small one, I went on the Klingon Encounter ride afterward and got a little queasy in the turbolift... We split a Chernobyl at Red Square later that day, and it kinda tasted the same. So maybe I just need to figure out how to make a Chernobyl and then get some dry ice and viola! Warp Core Breach!
