I love the flags in the background that say peace and hope as the sound of boxcars full of wailing people and midnight banging on your door punctuate periods of dreary existence.

Mr. Parloff, thank you for your continued wisdom on so many amazing pieces of music that've changed my life. Your Beethoven lectures, Shostakovich lectures, Schubert, Bach, your many introductions to pieces on this channel, and so on. Truly thank you so very much for your work!

What's the story with the guy in the little screen behind the viola player?

This quartet built upon the letters of the composer's name (DSCH) is both very strict in the motive derivatives and presnts a subjective tone hich makes it a unique tonal masterpiece. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

In this work, as in the 10th symphony, the theme of Stalin is clearly present, especially in the second movement. Just like the 10th symphony, this is undoubtedly an autobiographical work.

A few nights ago my house in Vermont was severely damaged by a sudden flood along a little brook that has given such joy and peace over the years. In the midst of the aftermath, this is the one one piece of music I chose to hear-most especially the lento. And it soothes my soul. Thank you, wonderful musicians. Thank you, Antonin.

You must listen to this next to the Turkey river in Spillville where Dvorak went for inspiration. Very fitting next to riverside park. The birds, occasional bald eagle, the trees, the babbling creek, snakes rabbits, occasional white tail coming for a drink… Very fitting scene for listening to this.

I have worn out my Rudolf Serkin recording from 1959 (I believe) which is considered the watershed recording of this extraordinary set of variations, but this performance (this LIVE performance!) is easily comparable to that one (in my humble opinion), also to the recording made by Mr. Horzowski. Both Serkin and Horzowski were long-time teachers of Richard Goode. How fortunate we are to have had all three of these musicians in our lifetime! Words fail me how moved I am having just listened to this performance! A million thanks to Richard Goode and all the folks who make Parlance concerts available to the public!

Today I discovered Maestro Arensky, perhaps his music was hidden in the depth of Glacier Arensky and it took Maestro Zukerman and the other performers (I wish all their names were published) to bring it to the surface of my soul. Thank you Mr Parloff.

Excellent performance, great group. However, I found the camera movement very distracting. I don’t want to be forced to view a concert through someone else’s eyes, especially when that someone else has more concern about the visual aspect of a performance than on the musical aspect. Musicians need to take control of videos and just have one static camera and let the audience decide where they want to visually focus on at any given moments.
