I've got some under $100 price point and use them for year's Lew's, ABU Garcia, 13 fishing, Daiwa reels nothing Rong with them and others but sometimes you will get a lemon reel or rod's the same thing in the $100 range. The average guy will have a $100 reel and rod will what I've seen over the years. Something people don't want to hear is that on my ugly cat medium heavy power moderate Action rod I have Ozark trail OTX baitcaster reel that I've been using for 4 years now and very much happen with it and it was a return on clearance sale for $11

im a little late to watching this, but im so glad you mentioned salmon and steelhead fishing im looking into a reel for a steelhead rod i have, and the okuma ceymar is a great option. it also is good in saltwater, just a rinse down after and it runs for years!

I use the 5ft.6in. baitcasting version, here in England, for small stream fishing. Absolutely brilliant. Recently upgraded it with a Runcl SC180 baitcaster, from which I've removed one carbon fibre drag washer to make it's max. drag force compatible with '4lb.' Gamma Superflex mono. Routinely landing 2-3lb. small stream pike on this outfit while fishing for perch.

For spinning reels, I have 2 Diawa 2500 Exceler LT's and 1Diawa 2500 Legalis. Now when it comes to baitcasting reels, I am ALL about Shimano. I have 2 SLX-XT's, 1 SLX DC, 5 Curado MGL 150's and 2 Metanium MGL's. Great recommendations for under a $100.00 bucks.

Shimano dont call it VBS anymore. The slx has a svs , the XT has a SVS infinity.

The okuma epixor XT 30s and 40s is upgraded from the old one but they put 2 less bearings. Is on the air dry spinner for freshwater and saltwater.

I do feel you might try a piscifun carbon X or carbon X 11. I have a few i use for ice fishing..very light for the money..pretty tough never had one break. Good drag and 10 bearings...

Love your videos, my favourite rod is the New OKUMA PSYCHO STICK. About 70 dollars here the Veritas is about a 130 dollars this side.

My only quibble would be the Penn. Daiwa dominates this category and all on your list are better than the Penn.
