I love your videos! I’ve been watching a lot of them recently. Seems like you had a good summer. I’m going to be in Sarasota soon, and I’m going to try and catch my first decent snook. I was wondering if you have any tips like what baits to throw

Me and my father use to fish this very spot in Bigpass when we lived in Sarasota, got out there at about 9 am, used to get some big bites that took the bait and broke the line.. Good memories

Used to fish Bigpass with my father back in the day (1990s) Got alot of Catfish, Ladyfish, Pompano, Bluefish, Redfish and even one time , what I think was a baby lemon shark. But never in my 10 years of fishing in those waters from 1993 to 2003, did I see a tarpon. I guess things have changed since my days there

This is painful to watch! 1. You need to turn the manual release valve more than "couple of turns". You might as well take it all the out . I'm 5'7" and 145 lbs and managed to muscle it up in under a minute. Not long drawn out process this dude did! 2. You do not need to disconnect the battery if you first disconnect the the connections under the motor cover. 3. There's no need to remove the zinc plate attached to the motor mount. Just remove the ground cable attached to it. 4. Rather than pound on the actuator arm bushings with a screw driver or punch, a better method is use a socket attached to an extension as opposed to various screw drivers or an oversized punch. It took me 85 minutes to remove my old assembly and install the new one. WARNING: Be aware of inept folks on KZbin!

@@chucklarry2667 Nice try but it was a different time, I grew up in Sarasota and have family in Florida dating to 1822 who helped build the state, Ringling Brothers Mansion homes, surveyed original streets, ranching and farmers going back many generations. I studied marine biology there, met Eugenia Clark who started mote Marine Lab when I was just a kid. The fishery did not receive the pressure and could easily have been sustainable had there not been such mismanagement of the resources. I've also worked in the Pacific Northwest doing habitat restorations and educating giving seminars on watershed awareness/management and protecting salmon spawning habitats. I'm not quite of the Boomer age range but either way you're barking up the wrong tree. "LOL"

I was fishing that exact spot in 2017 and a realtor was talking with a client at the edge of that property. The client was a loud type A dude and he asked the realtor in a very loud voice “how do I keep assholes like this guy from fishing in front of my property?” She answered him that Florida law allowed that I could fish up to the high tide line. When the law changed, I didn’t think much of it, but I returned to Shell a year or so ago and saw all the changes( No Trespassing signs and fences). Personally, I think it sucks to harass fishermen. Unless thay are breaking a law they should be allowed in their pursuit of happiness. I may just take my canoe with all my gear and anchor it a foot of water and spend the next few hours walking that lovely stretch. They can’t stop that.
