My favourite parts are when he ran to you instead of the bike and his genuine thank you before zooming off. Something to be said here, also parents hesitate to front up the cost of a bike but have no problem buying an ipad or a switch. Respect to you mate.

Congrats on the new purchase. We started with no battery in and just walking with it. Once he was comfortable we turned it on the lowest speed and just let him practice giving it a little gas and letting off. Slowly he started giving it gas and walking with it.

Those yellow gates arent locked, im not sure why theyre even there to be honest. Ive ridden up from the other side and just moved them out of the way to keep going. Just make sure you put them back before riding off, i guess.

Agree with you on all fronts. I have all the same complaints with my 23’. I’m comparing to a 2018 350XC-F. Gearing and suspension were big misses from the factory.

Nice review… purchasing my first dirtbike, 23 KTM 350 XCF, I have no experience on dirt bikes, but many years on the track with sport bikes. I don’t know why I’ve chosen this bike, I know that I like KTM, and that I am 6’2 210 and thought of 350 would be a good fit. Don’t plan on racing, would like long adventure rides in the Arizona desert, or maybe the Midwest, not doing trials or anything crazy, 45yrs i’m looking for something easy to ride that I can grow into. If I soften up the suspension somehow, maybe a conversion kit, is this an appropriate bike for a beginner? I found a very clean 350 XCF with 50hrs on it for a good price. Also found a 23 Honda 250 RX that’s pretty clean.. Your thoughts? Thank you.

I’d look at the xc-w version of the 350 for what you’re riding. The 250 Honda is a good bike depending on how technical or open you’re riding would be is if you’d want a little more grunt in a bike than the 250.

You described me to a T. I’m 45 and just bought a 2024 KTM 350 XCF. I have got it out and have ridden sport bikes but not dirt bikes prior, let me just say I love it man, scared me the fitst time but it’s manageable and Iits a solid bike.

@@nathanshaw428 Dude.. it didn’t pan out with the used 23. Got the same as you, a new 24 with the better forks! Had it for one month, have yet to ride it, but I did get a whole set of UFO plastics, radiator guards and rotor guards in preparation. It’s just been too damn hot to get out. I look at it every day though.

Ive got a dr650, its a pig but im curious as to how it would handle. Spoke to the guys in bozeman, said it would be the first time anyone has ever strapped one to a dr.

if youre planning on riding trails and mellow stuff it would probably be fine but in deep powder or steep hill climbs it wouldn’t work at all, which is probably why nobody has done it on a dr650
